We haven't bought a quality forward since Richarlison

They cost big money and we dont have any.

Dom has been a bit of a troll, awful for the lad to be injured, but i think the club need to accept if his fitness cant be relied on then he second choice and invest in a new PL quality starting forward. One of the hardest things to do in football in the PL is to have two high quality forwards, usually at that caliber you desire - both want to start, teams of higher quality struggle with it in this league - at our level, its really difficult, its why someone like Ings would have been golddust for us really.

Secondly you are looking at wide forwards, Richarlison, Young Flash - selling them without replacing them - criminal and could well be the rock we perish on. Someone at the club thinks they are clever then they actually are.
Jürgen says they do it without spending money so perhaps we can

Hard commodities to find.

A couple of players who play across the frontline and chip in 8-12 a season wouldn't go amiss. As well as an our and out goalscorer.
Other clubs find them, and I am not even talking the top clubs who have better resources and pull, also we have actually made a profit in the market over the last few years now but the team is much worse it's been managed decline. We go down that's why

Bunch of people were laughing at the idea of signing Ings in the summer, and Iheancho in January.

If we had either of them yesterday we would’ve won
I don't think people were laughing at Ings, more concerned with his injury record which was a reasonable concern. I'd sign Iheanacho in a heartbeat, can't believe anyone was laughing at him

The DoF is responsible for a lot more than just recruitment, that is just one area on its own, normally with it's own specialist team of scouts and data analysts and it's own head of recruitment who reports to the DoF. They are also responsible for the academy, the medical, the fitness, it's really just a large scale project manager role, overseeing the various departments. Some DoF's do seem to be quite heavily involved in the recruitment side of things and others like Thelwell seem to be more administrator types leaving it to others.
Wouldn't surprise me if that was the reason he was hired. We know how much those above him like to get involved in recruitment.

We spent 50m in the summer on McNeil and muapay combined.

IMO the money has been there enough times and we ended up buying expensive squad fillers.

Those full amounts were not paid in full though. It was a low fee upfront, with the rest coming on the drip. For McNeil at least, not sure about Maupay. I think we've been shopping for players available on those kinds of arrangements TBH

And we wouldn’t pay the full amount for any player, so the same fiscal breakdown of payments over time makes no difference.

We wouldn’t be paying 50m up front for a promising striker… I don’t think any club pays 100% up front these days

We have recently started putting together a proper recruitment team together tbf, it just frustrates me as I think that should have really been one of his first priorities when he joined. It's always going to be difficult with Kenwright though as he clearly is still stuck in a time warp where he thinks the chairman should be involved with team affairs like it was 30 years ago. The game has moved on and that is not the way most clubs operate these days. I look forward to seeing how things work when he is not involved anymore.

Dont disagree with the spirit mate, but i think both came in at less then £30 mill as Billy was saying w were limited by the structures of the deals and that dynamic.

It would have been great to get a goal scorer but the absolute minimum was an understudy for Calvert-Lewin who could hold the ball up and occupy defenders.

Instead we have Maupay with a devastating combination of zero physicallity and no eye for goal.
