the rumours were about Gordon Lee not Duncan by the way

I miss seeing him on sky sports as a guest when Everton are playing. He doesn't seem to be on their radar anymore sadly. Top fella and pretty funny too.

Thats a bit unfair. I always think the word legend is overused, but Duncan McKenzie left a lot of memories with Everton fans in those 48 games. He was a player with world class skill, but it turned out that Walker hated any player who was a 'personality' and just ignored him for long periods...a disgraceful way for a third rate manager to treat an amazing talent.I do wish people would check out the meaning of the word legend before using it so easily, although maybe the term 'football legend' does not mean legend in the true sense of the word.
Walker was manager years after Mckenzie left Gordon Lee was the manager at the time

The skull didn't like flair type players

Duncan wore them as well, flairs that it is:D.

Lee didn't like himself either!

Good god Macca with a bus pass. He can't be called a legend but he was absolute entertainer the likes of which no longer exists.

All the best Dunc, have a good one

Remember the cup tie against Stoke not long after he signed, ran across the pitch and not one Stoke player could get near him. I was talking to a Stoke fan last year and even he could remember it

It was one of those ace moments when there was genuine laughter coming down from the stands. It was like a man against kids he just took the mick. Very skilful player but too mercurial for Lee and probably for his own good. Should have got to wembley though in 77 cup run and then we would have seen some tricks. Clive Thomas you have got a lot to answer for!!! Grrrrrr. Duncan was ace that day.
In the FA cup I mean of course we were there in league cup.

Remember dunc taking the piz out of Tommy Smith, nut merged him, really made him look a Cnut
When Smith was interviewed at the end of the game ,he said Dunc should be on the stage, haha

Remember it well mate I was in the st end applauding.

Dunc's transfer was a massive moment it signified a departure from the school of science he was streets ahead in terms of ability and speed of thought and was adored the only one bar Alan Ball to make GP gasp in astonishment.

Gordon Lee had to win something to justify the move - he didn't and was down the road pdq afterwards - we took no sht in them days.

Wasn't that quick mate.

Duncan was worth the money to watch. He was pure entertainment with his tricks and the fans loved it unfortunately Gordon Lee didn't. He used to always try the back heel over his head and run on to it, mind it didn't work all the time.

My first Goodison hero. Could do things most players can't do. Too many players (especially in Britain) are just professional athletes who can't do anything your mate can't do in the park. They just do it quicker and more consistantly. The likes of Duncan McKenzie make football fun to watch. He's the only Duncan I consider a legend.
