The trouble is that Schneiderlin and Gueye are so limited on the ball that we have no effective means of moving the ball forwards other than to welly it up the pitch.

Rooney gives you that dimension in a deep role, he has creativity and can play passes which the others can’t.

The trouble is that a lot of those passes don’t come off and he makes mistakes, however I would say at least he tries to play them unlike the likes of Schneiderlin who are content with passing it backwards for 90 minutes.

In a word: No.

But I am sure if we spawn a draw against the RS in April he'll be plastered all over Everton TV celebrating it as if we've won the treble. Horrible creature.

This is the state we are in right now. Personally, I'd like an upgrade. It is obvious that he is a better fit next to Gana than Schneiderlin is, so for now, he will do. He is a decent player, and he definitely gives us a much better counter attack when he is on. I just hope the manager keeps him in that position though as he can be a bit of a black hole behind the striker.
