Said it before on this thread but it's clear we can still get the best out of him in that central point behind either a front two or three. Give him the movement and his footballing brain and technical ability is still up there with the best.

I've got to say lads this is exactly what I hoped Wayne would do for us at his current age. He seemed to be involved in everything and for me was a standout player today. If we can get this sort of performance or better out of him each week then it's simply up to the the rest of the squad to get to that level.

He also looked decent for the 90 which surprised me.

Well done Wayne, good performance today for the blues..

You had some very experienced players out there in Jags, Baines even Mirallas but nobody ran the show and won the game like Rooney did.

Physically he isn't what he was. He doesn't have the pace. But his brain, wow, a cut above any one to play in the blue shirt for a long long time

The fact that he tracked back on the 90th minute to help Martina was suprising. Started off a bit clumsy, with some poor touches and ran into trouble on a few occasions but the goal seemed to settle him and was brilliant in the 2nd half
