Wayne's is the only player who could be described as World Class who would join us without us being in the CL or even Europe in general. Most would demand a club regularly in the last 16 if the CL.

Rooney is a certainty to join and tbh I think he would be a useful addition if we get EL. assuming we play 3-5-2 we could go Rooney and Lukaku in the league and providing we get some poor opponents in the first rounds/group stages we could go Valencia/Perez (if we sign a 3rd striker) up top alongside Lookman/Mirallas

Can't find it, but on deadline day, BBC sport had a bit by a sports lawyer, who said bigger deals can take 6-12 months to conclude, and only very minor deals take place entirely within the window.

So if Rooney is joining, the negotiations will be taking place now. And I reckon they are.

Kone and Niasse are out the door so assuming we get EL we'll need 3 strikers + Calvert Lewin realistically. Lukaku and Rooney we would still need a 3rd striker but one who is happy to not get much game time and be a squad player. I wouldn't pay the £14.5 million West ham want for him but if we could negotiate a say £9-10 million deal I wouldn't mind us going for him.

I don't think Koeman will sign him though.

i don't think he's done anywhere near enough. We definitely need two strikers, i'd go for someone like charlie austin for about £15m as 3rd choice and then get a really good backup who will also play in a 2. I'd love benteke tbh, but based on what palace stupidly paid for him, that won't happen.

I like Benteke too, Austin seems too much of a southern boy and is first choice for Southampton. He's class mind. We missed a trick with Gabbadini.
