Everton are on the back page of the metro today with the story of our interest in Rooney. I know, it's the metro, but it's a small example of the potential extra exposure we could get... I can't remember the last time we were mentioned in the metro sport section outside of playing one of the London clubs

With respect mate, these are a lot more than rumours when both the manager and the director of football repeatedly say they'd like to sign the player. It's not the papers or tv speculating, it's Everton driving this agenda very publicly. And they would not be doing this unless they'd already had a word on the sly to gauge interest from the Rooney side.

I didn't want it to happen, but now I've moved into a 'not arsed' phase now.
I never forgave him for moving how he did and in the manner he did, and his carry on in the years after that.
When he came back for the Dunc testimonial I didn't clap him when he came on, nor did I boo.
I still think he was massively manipulated as an 18 year old in leaving how he did.
I wonder if, deep down, part of him does regret leaving us when he did. I know he's won loads and became rich and famous and all that, but there must be something inside him regarding us.

But at this point, if the manager and DoF want him, and if they're convinced it will make us stronger, then I'm happy to swallow my pride and accept it. I'm sure if he came back and got the no.9 shirt, we'd sell a ton of 'ROONEY 9' shirts. It probably would help our profile home and abroad.

As long as the fee and wages are reasonable, and he's not playing every single game and/or blocking any youth or good players playing, then let's go for it and get it done asap after the season finishes.
