This is my favourite old Goodison film, just for the majesty of the ground as it was and how the supporters in the Park End stand jump out of their seats when the action is near them. Brilliant footage.

Slim pickings in the Fifties, 3 seasons in Division 2, then 11th, 15th x 2 and 16th x 3. Nevertheless, the lowest average attendance was 32,00 in 1952-3, the rest of the decade was 35,000 and above. Great support and supporters as always.

By way of confirming the truth of summerisle's verdict, five FA Cup defeats, a couple of them possibly undeserved, from the locust decade of the 1950s. The only other constant is the away support - as ever, terrific
