Was it all Lies?

Compared to a lot of teams we do, our ceiling is 50kand I bet a lot of lesser teams have bigger wages than us and lower revenue streams. EFC are consistantly one of the lowest spending teams in the EPL, the sky 4, Spurs, the Barcodes, West Ham, Wigan, Bolton, Hull, Middlesboro, Sunderland, West Brom etc. etc. spend more on players than us year after year yet they are able to stay afloat

The £30M loan the club secured after the last transfer window shut maybe?

Cost of Kirkby?
It had been reported that if the Kirkby project was 'called in' then this would have an influence on the manager's transfer chest.
Ian Ross, Everton’s Head of Public Relations & External Affairs, says: “This is completely untrue. These are absolutely separate issues. They always have been and they always will be. The Government’s decision (on the Kirkby project) won’t have any impact on the manager’s transfer budget.” (01/07/08)

If we're in need of some of that £30M for transfers there wont be a problem then.

Sure it is. Think of it this way. Dave advocates blowing that £30m loan on new players. Lets say that happens then presumably the logic is that this spending is an investment/gamble on us gaining CL status or something that will see revenues enhance sufficiently to pay that back.

Is £30m enough to guarantee that? Can't see it myself. Then if that fails we'll have an extra £30m in debt to pay with no increase in revenue, with those extra repayments cutting even further into Davey's transfer budget.

Never mind, to the money tree we go.

No, I said if we need some of that money for transfers there wont be any problem will there? Might be a good idea to spend some of it dont you think, given we have a squad that's falling apart at the seams?

Indeed, any proceeds from outgoing transfers will – you can rest assured – be added to the existing budget to strengthen our manager’s hand as he seeks to enter the transfer market.

So why is the manager saying that we have no money to spend more than 1m on players? Was our budget 7m during the summer? less?

I was told reliable apparently that we had £17m to spend. So in effect our budget should be around £27m, unless something happened that we were not told about.

We should have at least £10m in the January transfer window.

Or its lies, and if it is then a [Poor language removed] protest needs to happen.

Interestingly Dave Whelan said last night on this debate that he fully expects Everton to be sold to a foreign investor. Well get on with it then.

Lie, lies, lies. Its Everton we're on about here. We never get told the truth about anythinmg this club of ours gets up to.

Depends I guess. Obviously the transfer fee is but one part of the costs associated with a player. So even getting in a couple of free transfers might damage the finances if they're on a reasonable wage (Larsson for instance). You could argue quite feasibly that our current wage bill is unsustainable as it is without adding new players to it.

I've said a few times, our finances really aren't in a good way and we're right at the limit of how much we can borrow.

Ok so the club comes out and says we have 17m for transfers. They then go and ask Real Madness if we can buy Jimmy VanHoffmoney, we offer 10m for Jimmy cos hes class, so Real then turn round and say uve got 17m, give us it all.

Or does the club say we are skint, offer 5m for Jimmy and say we have no more money, so Real think, well they havent got anymore money, so we will let us have him for 5m. Then we got more money to go and buy other players.

Surely that makes sense, keep crying poverty, then clubs wont shaft us. I mean imagine how much City are gonna get shafted. 30m for Robinho Hahahahahahahaha.

Or we might just not have any money, costs a lot of money to run a football club.

P.s I wanna lick Kenwrongs balls.

Or do they just think "£5m? [Poor language removed] off!"

Then we offer 5m and a packet of wine gums. But then we say ok, we will speak with a mate and see if he can lend us a 1m, i mean we could maybe go up to 7m! So then Real say we want 10m and 10m only, so we say ok no deal, then we come back a week later and say ok weve got your 10m, then we sign the boy. Hes a class act tho Jimmy.
