Player Valuation: £70m
Chairman Statement – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com - The Official Website of Everton Football Club

Indeed, any proceeds from outgoing transfers will – you can rest assured – be added to the existing budget to strengthen our manager’s hand as he seeks to enter the transfer market.

So why is the manager saying that we have no money to spend more than 1m on players? Was our budget 7m during the summer? less?

I was told reliable apparently that we had £17m to spend. So in effect our budget should be around £27m, unless something happened that we were not told about.

We should have at least £10m in the January transfer window.

Or its lies, and if it is then a [Poor language removed] protest needs to happen.

Interestingly Dave Whelan said last night on this debate that he fully expects Everton to be sold to a foreign investor. Well get on with it then.

So maybe Moyes is playing it coy to ward of people raising the prices.

Anyone in touch with Ross? I'm not anymore for obvious reasons.

If he expects us to be sold somethings going on behind the scenes. January will be interesting because we only sell to buy.

A lot of clubs are in a similar position at the moment, apart from the Sky 4 I can't see many teams splashing out big money come January tbh

Read the statement carefully.

Assume outgoings were more than incomings, therefore the net transfer budget was -£3m. Now if £10m is raised through sales you have a transfer budget of £7m.

We've lost money on our operations this year, so sales will help offset that budget, with any excess going to Moyes. All of which makes his statement true, just not in the sense you're taking it to be.

What?

You saying that we had a transfer budget of minus 3 million in the summer?

Surely outgoings are nothing to do with the transfer budget. The transfer budget is that, it has nothing to do with maintenance work, or anything like that.

Maybe we bought Fellaini for £20 million, but Moyes thought it was unwise to tell that to the public (Cal would probably slash himself):unsure::unsure

They'll be saying next that outgoings on steward's reflector jackets and have stopped Moyes bringing in a defensive midfielder. Damn those stewards.

I doubt that, but even if that is true - we should still have more than the pittence Moyes is claiming.

I know, i was only joking. Who knows what went on, maybe Moyes just didnt have time on the last day to spend all his money, and because of that its gone towards wages or the upkeep of the stadium etc...
