2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

Didnt hear much about MGW when he was popping up on our left today...also thought he coped well with their winger.

Popped up with a few decent runs and crosses with other opportunities played out of play by Grealish uncharacteristically.

Kev's a conspiracy Russia-supporting nutjob who thinks we signed Mykolenko for some grand scheme of laundering money to Ukraine or something like that and that this is "obvious". He also gets away from this thread when Mykolenko has a good game, oddly enough, and goes into hiding.
Bit of a stretch considering we bought him before Russia invaded Ukraine. We also wouldn’t need to play him to have achieved the same result. He’s ok as a player but limited and defo needs replacing. Ideally in the summer.

he is clearly nowhere near a premier league player - probably not even a championship level one - and the fact that he is still in the team is political virtue signaling at its most extreme

At least Chelsea were fortunate to be forced to replace Mudryk who was bought for similar reasons

People thinking Myko is top priority to replace next window are out of order. And blind to the fact we have other gaping holes in our side which need addressing before. Right back, striker, defensive midfield to name a few.

Myko is athletic, rarely injured, defensively sound and steadily improving.

Sure he is not Roberto Carlos but he is not putting himself to shame going forward and is super solid defensively. No complaints from me and honestly youll be hard pressed to find a replacement that is a significant upgrade on him that easily

Is that so
Yes. The reason we bought him was because he was a young international footballer who we thought we could develop. The reason we haven't replaced him is because we've been kind of skint since he's been with the club. Why would we play him just because his country was invaded? As a show of solidarity? If you believe that a football club deliberately plays a substandard player (in your eyes) to make a political point then I worry about your judgement. Maybe just maybe we have played him because though I agree he is limited he's part of a defence that is one of the most efficient in the Premier League the past 3 seasons or so

He’s miles off premier league quality most fans recognise that and have constantly demanded his replacement . It’s not only me who judges him as poor as you can see with the pelters this fella gets even after a win

Ironically we likely got him with Usmanovs money (directly or indirectly)before he was sanctioned. Couldn't make that up.

Myko is ok. We were spoilt with Baines and Digne. That drop off is stark. Never gonna be lime them but he's been integral to our defence. Pickfords clean sheets attest to his (Myko) reliability.

I think you're taking an extreme view with your judgement of him. Sure he's not top class but you saying he's not championship level makes you look like a extreme hater of his over egging the pudding so to speak. He's been part of a defence which has been in the top 10 for least goals conceded the last few seasons so if he was league one standard as you say he'd of not helped us be defensively relatively solid. My main gripe though is you trying to say his presence in the team is somehow politically motivated as to be frank that makes you look very stupid

Thats a good point Monsieur Heureux. Never thought about the Usmanov link. Maybe Kev is right
