i like his passion and effort. i think he gets us but its not the most inspiring decision considering he only performs in 50% of the pitch and even then its only 50% of the time. back up only hopefully

He’s not good enough even as back up in my opinion. He isn’t decent competition for a startling place.

I think we have to be realistic about who’s willing to sit on our bench at the moment

If we could get Ait Nouri from City then he would be purely a back up

What does that matter? It will be fine for a year. No problem.

Where we also don't rotate players this way, unless someone is injured.

A lot of very optimistic “second choice”/“rotation” shouts in here for a fanbase that has just watched its team get underrotated into the ground at the expense of European footy, with a highly likeable but even more highly limited LB playing almost every game.

The only skill he has that keeps him in the team is he primarily uses his left foot so we just have to keep a player like that

Ok Eggs, he played as a lb for the senior national team previously but now he’s not a lb, sound.

Of course takes time to re-build a squad, doesn’t it Sunderland…….

I am being realistic though mate, we constantly play catch up with ourselves in transfer windows and have to retain mediocre players along with it. Gets us no where time and again.

It’s a real shame we have no promising youngsters to come in for right and left back.

Well, Garner is a great right back because he had 3 games there for the U21s, so this logic does track to be honest.
