Said this a few times. People always wade in with a few names but I'm convinced he's the worst we've had in the Prem.

I think Pistone was worse, but we didn't sign him for a big fee as I recall, also, we didn't massively downgrade from someone like Digne.

Might also just be an age thing for me, Pistone was the first player I'd ever seen spoon the ball so bad it went out of the stadium.

Also, remember we released Pistone and then resigned him?

Thought he was kicking on last year. But he is oh so limited in the opposition's half.

Think he has a place in the squad for game were it's gonna be backs against the wall, but we really need someone who gets forward.

Can't say I'd ever heard the [made up] rumours of Myko to Napoli, but surely common sense would say why on earth would serial winner Conte who only wants the best of the best (and jettisons non-footballer garbage like Lindstrom) be interested in a bloke who is bog-standard Prem level at best?? Last season Mykolenko was a better defender than Baines.

Baines was never great defensively.

Didn’t they release him because they didn’t want to pay his ridiculous wage request, got desperate so paid him what he wanted as a free agent and then he broke his leg in the first game of the season or something like that?

Was Italy u21 left sided centre back when they were using a 3. Also played in Inter youth as a LB.

Newcastle signed him for £4.5mil which was a really big fee. We then got him for £3mil which wasnt small.

Worst starting fullback I’ve seen play for us in my lifetime.

Not sure what was worse yesterday… Their right winger leaving him on his arse with minimal effort, putting a cross into the Upper Gwladys from a great position or missing the best chance of the game.

A LB that can’t defend, attack, cross or tackle.

Worst starting fullback I’ve seen play for us in my lifetime.

Not sure what was worse yesterday… Their right winger leaving him on his arse with minimal effort, putting a cross into the Upper Gwladys from a great position or missing the best chance of the game.

A LB that can’t defend, attack, cross or tackle.

I’ve never seen a fullback (either side) who’s so utterly bemused when the winger in behind him or between him and his centre back. Positionally terrible.

Was Digne sold because Benitez had some kind of personal issue with him? Apparently was on a downwards trajectory at the time and we'd be better for having a younger and fresher left back. Three years on and Digne is playing games in the Champions League for Villa and Mykolenko doesn't even look like a professional footballer.

I was like 8-10 years old when he was playing so I can't really critically assess him. I just remembered thinking he was our worst player at the time

fantastic defensively ? What lunatic said that , he went from awful to Half decent last season but that’s about it
