Bet Southampton will be holding out for £50m!
We did. One good season as a defender these days creates £40 million +

What the hell is going on.
One minute were slaggin off sky for the complete pap dey peddle....next were endorsing it.
VVD was at celtic 18 months ago...now he's the only option worth buying.
Hook... line and sinker !

All you need to do is admit two things;
  • how sorry you are and
  • that you are a previously banned user
Only then are you going to be forgiven and rest easy in the Era of Frandliness.

Haha haha

Lol.

Just lol.

Why is this a bad thing? We aren't pulling a Man U here, we simply don't have their revenue flow, but making ample investment to make up for years of under investment is okay. However, investing money in player that would make us better with drive revenue, especially if we get into Europe. Beyond that, these fees aren't sunk. These players are assets.

And honestly, look at the investment made by clubs with half our history and stature. So, this honestly isn't crazy at all.

For those who have actually watched them both, who's the better player out of Van Dijk and Manolas. Both slightly unrealistic, but if the money was the same, who is the better player? It's got to be more difficult for an Italian side to turn down 40mil than it would be for Saints given the TV money. Also selling to a rival and all that stuff.

i wouldn't be upset if we didn't get him, given the prices branded out, just being honest. Admittedly i haven't seen a mass amount of him but what i have i can see that there is flaws in his defensive game. He reminds me very much of lescott who was obviously a very capable defender, but his goals added to his reputation and made him be viewed as a better defender. That's not really what i want from a centre back tbh, i won't an absolute rock who will very rarely be beaten. Lescott was alright, but i was never sad to see him go, i thought city massively overpaid for him, and plucked him from us at a time when they were trying to become the best when they weren't any better than us. £24m back then seems to be what about £40m is now and it could be view we're looking to pluck van dijk from the saints in an almost mirror fashion.

I know there's been an inflation, but in the last few years that price has got mata and ozil, two player who can single handedly win games and be unplayable. I would much rather see us spend that money on that sort of superstar from abroad. Obviously we can't attract that calibre of player, but there will be attacking players ala of a mertens stature which i'm sure we could attract with the money on offer which would really make us great.

Better player is probably Van Dijk - the thing that separates him from Manolas is his big threat at the other end of the pitch - Virgil frequently gets on the end of set pieces and has even been taking free kicks himself lately, he's also very capable from 25-30 yards whereas Manolas couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo if he tried.

That being said I think Manolas edges it in terms of pure defending, he's old school, dead strong and also one of the fastest centre-halves I think I've ever seen.
