Transfer Rumour Virgil van Dijk

It's almost like one of those situations when you could make a bid with full knowledge that it isn't going to be accepted. Not that there is any evidence of any bid taking place whatsoever.
Chris Sutton, who for some reason has emerged as a pundit, was one such example before he joined Blackburn.

Welcome to Everton Virgil.

A lot of media coverage on this now. Still thinking he'll go to a club bigger than us. But he doesn't belong in a tea pot club like Southampton.

I respect your views on Martinez Dave and don't want to drag it back to him.

But, you have previously said that Koeman should be given time. I think you said until next Christmas to judge him.

But since he has arrived you haven't had a positive word to say about him. It's fair enough to say you will give him time but I actually think Evertonians should get behind the bloke until such time as he deserves to be judged (in your view Christmas).

By constantly moaning about everything, not even saying anything positive when we win, being negative about signings like Schneiderlin, you are definitely not "getting behind him". You arn't even trying.

So when you pop up on threads, usually being negative, people struggle to reconcile that with the unwavering support you gave Martinez last year and think you are being a hypocrite.
Isn't it up to him to enthuse us and make a fist of it to get us on board? He's made it plain what he thinks of this club: he sees it as a stepping stone for our players, and his demeanour suggests he too thinks he's a cut above us (which if you really want to know is the core of my problem with him - who the 'kin hell does this feller think he's being employed by here? We were pioneering football when his beloved Ajax and Barcelona were begging for mediocre English, Scottish and Irish coaches to teach them how to kick a ball straight).

As said, I'll never call or get behind a call by others to sack him almost no matter what happens in his first season, but there is a cut off point for that and it's autumn next season as far as I'm concerned. A season and third is easily enough time to get things on track...many new managers hit the ground running. But his football is turd and I dont think in the intervening period between now and next autumn that should go unsaid.

Simple as that really. No hypocrisy on my part whatsoever.

Surely this is my heart and not my head speaking, but a 40m bid would have to turn their heads. They could sign Sakho for 20 and have 20 left to address their attack which frankly needs some help.

Virgil, Morgs and Lookman in with Clev and Niasse out would be a tremendous window. Add Belfodil and a winger in with Kone and Gibbo out and it would be sublime.

Also, don't know that i can recall seeing Koeman as happy as he was yesterday talking about Morgan signing. Obvious he feels this is a player that can do what he wants. Doubtless he would be the same over VVD.

Does all make one wish we had brought Hart in over the summer......
