I don't see how he could be any worse than Jelavic at the moment. At least with Vellios as a young player he would be gaining valuable experience and developing whereas Jelavic will be reaching his peak in a couple years or so. Not only that but it must build bad morale within the team to see someone play horrifically week after week and never be dropped for someone else. I know it would upset me.
I feel a bit bad for these young foreign players like Vellios and Gueye. Yeah they're getting paid well but they're stuck in a country with a new language, with probably no ties to Everton, and don't have a chance at first team. Makes you wonder what you would do in their situation. Stay at home and develope or go to an foreign club? Then with Baxter and Akpan setting examples of leaving for lower teams, you wonder what goes through these young players minds.
