Make a cottage pie and bung some veg amongst the mince and gravy. To top, instead of potato, use celeriac or parsnip. Or, a combination of both, or if you're a bit doubtful add a couple of spuds with them. You could also add a carrot or two.

tbh, it's not me or Mrs degsy who are the problem its the parents. We alreay make the kids cottage pie and stuff, and put sneaky extra veg in it, they woof it down like a Labrador at his dish. If they do notice the extra veg they don't say, it's usually is there any more Nana.
The main anti vegged even eats brussels sprouts at ours...boiled to within an inch of their little lives in true - Yer Ma /Nan fashion - but she ests them, especially with a load of old style Bisto gravy.
The real problem is how to tell the parents...daughter in law mainly (mine field achtung!! etc) to stop being a head up the arse woke food nazis.
I'm banned by herself from saying too much...but I might just have to call a spade a kin shovel and see if the snowflakes melt.
Sometimes if you don't say the obvious, the obvious get overlooked..
