Thrilled for Vaughan today. Took a quick look at the score while at the office and saw he bagged three !!!

Well in James !!!

General feeling on our boards from those that were there is that, although he got a hat trick, that wasn't necessarily just the reason he was MoM. His all round play, his eagerness for the ball, his ability to find space and make himself available and his work rate (loads of which I witnessed at Reading last Saturday) were all equally impressive.
At one point he chased and harried a Pompey defender shepherding out an almost certain goal kick and won a corner. Apparently blazed his best chance (for a fourth) over from eight yards, (which was a relief for us Palace fans as we're generally not used to much else:D.)
Plenty of Blue boys on our boards asking for him back now and rating him over Beckford, Saha and Anichebe, although as one (Palace) wag pointed out, you do seem to play more effectively without any actual forwards. (ie Cahill and Fellani as attackers).
A confidence boost for us rather than a turning point as it was only a very weak Pompey and the raw stats (goals aside) show a much more even game.
Clearly, Vaughans goals, and our wide mens ability to supply him, were the main difference.Burnley at Selhurst on Saturday.Bring it on,(and stay fit till then please Vaughany!)

cheers for the undate lid must suck seeing a good player going on loan bangin goals for ya and only remote chance of signing :(
Very true.Lots on our boards about the irony of the more successful he is, the less we would be able to afford him.Frankly, based on the (only two I know) games to date, he looks like a Premiership striker anyway. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened. We had a certain Cashley Cole on loan from Arsenal before he had made more than a handful of appearances for the Arse. Tried to buy him for £1m. (Wonder what would have happened?) BTW, pretty sure we haven't got £1m for Vaughney.:(

Found his level, maybe?

I don't think so, Vaughan easily has the tools to be a Premier League striker, injuries and lack of football are the only things holding him back. If he can stay fit (which seems to be very difficult for him) I have no doubt that he'll make it as a Premier League footballer, whether that's here or somewhere else, I couldn't say, but I'm confident he has the ability and mentality.

I always believe Vaughan has the ability to be a great striker for Everton, if he could finally prove he could actually stay injure-free and fit for a longer period, then it would be worth keeping him with us, let's hope this loan period would be a success for him, it would a joy to see him playing upfront for us!

He was lightning quick for the second and not afraid to get crunched by the keeper. Obviously has no inhibitions regarding injury, really hoping he's over them and keeps banging in the goals.

Were we too keen for him to go on loan without a test here rather than an untried Beckford, Out of favour Yak and old man Saha?

Looked very fit to me on that video.
