I cannot conclude there is a particular conspiracy against us, although at times it feels like it.
The scope for VAR was clear and obvious errors, nothing more. How can it take longer than 60 seconds for something that is meant to be clear and obvious? The line drawing for a toe offside is ludicrous and evidentially tweaked for certain clubs. I preferred the odd erroneous call for a marginal call, than waiting for a few minutes for an equally unconvincing outcome.
It was supposed to reduce errors on pitch, there is little evidence it does that, because it often supports a poor refereeing decision.
The worst aspect is that it kills atmosphere and joy. It ruins the fan experience. As an old and seasoned supporter, I would rather take a few bad decisions than keep VAR and its errors or bad decisions. It has not taken the doubt out of football, it has created a further distrust in the fairness of the game.
If there is a conspiracy it is to ensure the top teams get the benefit of the doubt in iffy decisions, not clear enough to demonstrate bias.
