VAR depending who is the VAR ref is, i think may have not give Rich's goal, just for them saying it was high foot etc,but as ever it depends on the day who is the VAR ref-some will say its good, some wont,it still comes down to a person thinking what he thinks,so instead of one person making decisions, its now 2 messing up or not

VAR worked well in the World Cup, although was room for improvement as refs become more used to it...

The Premier league Media will not want VAR, and the Andy Gray waffle shows... Don't think the Premier league want it, as it will remove bias from the league...

I'd much prefer see a game delayed 5-10 minutes if it means the right result, anyone arguing differently (like Gray) has an agenda

Well, I have no agenda and I totally endorse everything Andy says there.

Firstly I should state that I certainly don't have an agenda (I'm not even sure who would really, on this matter, but there we go).

Secondly, if you think it will remove bias you are unbelievably naïve. All it does is give more opportunity for bias, because it allows people to trawl through footage looking for any excuse at all to give a decision. As has previously been said on here, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Richarlison and Digne's weekend goals disallowed using VAR, even though United didn't even appeal for the decisions. Dodgy pens will still be down to the refs call, some offside calls will be allowed to carry on to use VAR later while others will be called at the time, and certain camera angles - like Llorente's handball last week - can conveniently not be shown.

Thirdly, I think that all depends on what you like about football. For me, part of the appeal of the game is the immediacy of it, the adrenaline, the euphoria and being part of it. Getting done by a bad decision can be heartbreaking and incredibly annoying, but I don't complain if we win by one. It's part of the game in that sense. I have no interest in sitting in the ground wondering what the hell's going on while they spend 10 minutes working out whether it's a corner or a goal kick, and if they're not going to use it for stuff like that it then it doesn't mean you get the right results anyway, so you just end up getting annoyed with the smaller decisions instead of the bigger ones.

Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre declared the Bundesliga title race "over" and branded the handball rule "the biggest scandal in football" as his side lost to Schalke on Saturday.

Dortmund trail leaders Bayern Munich by a point, having played a game more, after a 4-2 defeat in the Ruhr derby.

The video assistant referee awarded a penalty against Julian Weigl after 18 minutes, allowing Schalke to equalise.

"Football is making itself a laughing stock," said the Swiss manager.

"What do they want players to do, cut their arms off?" he added of the incident in which the ball struck Weigl at close-range.

"The people who invented these rules, I don't know how they look at themselves in the mirror.

"The title race is over. I have never experienced anything like this."

England's Jadon Sancho was struck by a lighter while both Marco Reus and Marius Wolf received red cards for Dortmund - who had led by nine points at the Bundesliga summit in January.

Bayern travel to face second-from-bottom Nurnberg tomorrow, aware victory will see them move four points clear with three games remaining as they chase a seventh consecutive league title.

BVB's remaining fixtures are against Werder Breman and Fortuna, while Bayern also have games against Hannover and RB Leipzig to come.

Sounded like a clinical game that dortmund game, all six shots on target were goals. Handball was never an issue with subbuteo footy.

Sounds like Favre is searching for an excuse after bottling the league and letting a relegation candidate hit them for 4 goals.

The Premier League will not use video assistant referees in 2019-20 to rule on goalkeepers moving off their line to save a penalty.

brilliant, bring in a new rule ... blame officials for actually enforcing the rule and then the PL decide they're not going to bother with checking the new rule because it may become too controversial. What a joke this sport is.

Having seen it in use for a while now, I've totally changed my mind on it. I wanted it at first.

I just don't like it now.

It takes far too long.
Multiple decisions in last night's Copa America game went to it, and combined with Paraguay players constantly going down feigning head injuries so play had to be stopped ( 7 stretcherd off I believe only to run straight back on ) made the game virtually un watchable.

The thought of Mike Dean and John Moss using it will become a farce.

As will the inevitable sponsorship of a VAR breaks on the telly..

Bang on the money!

Hate it so much.

Only reason it's been brought in is to enhance the bias towards certain clubs and help protect their positions at the top of the game.

Anyone who thinks VAR is giving a more level playing field is having a laugh.

Agree. Said for ever. Linear decisions, sound. No problem with that. But the minute you bring in subjective opinion based ones, well, you may as well have a vote every time.

Unless a ref misses an absolute howler/serious foul play. (Zidane in the WC for example) Marginal handballs or a keepers foot being an inch of the goal line is nonsense.
