Where are you getting the Steve Jobs/CBD info from?

Everything I've read says he considered using medical marijuana to treat his cancer, but opted against it, as he would have been denied a liver transplant if THC had been found in his blood?

I was just making the leap between people who ignore the science and the standard form of treatment for more natural/alternative therapies. I have no real idea what remedies he tried, just that I know he regretted not having chemotherapy sooner.

Should be compulsory and if the parents still kick up a fuss then the kids should be taken away from them.
I find this point of view far more disturbing than a parents (perhaps misguided) decision not to vaccinate their children.

People are allowed to have different opinions, to impose things on people and steal their children if they refuse would be horrific.

Surely you wouldn’t actually support that?

Their actions lead to potential deaths. Should their misguided beliefs and intellectual laziness be allowed to put children’s lives in danger?

They are trying to protect their children. Vaccinations aren’t 100% harmless. To take away people’s choice would lead to a very dark place.

We take away people’s choices all the time. Especially when it comes to their children. As societies, we decide what is an is not down to the parent. Vaccines should be something that is not down to the parent - we need everyone who can be vaccinated to be vaccinated

You do realise that their decision “to protect their child” can lead to the illness and even death of other children, right?

It’s not just a case of “I don’t want my kid to have this injection and oh, he might get the sniffles as a result”

Not vaccinating your children is woefully irresponsible and downright damaging to society.

People should absolutely have the right not to vaccinate their kids. In exchange, the rest of society should absolutely not be asked to pay to treat those kids when they inevitably get sick.
@BirkenheadBlue I remember at a debating society someone argue that failure to vaccinate a child, while knowing the facts, which lead to their death should be...

Manslaughter. Now, I know that it isn't as simplistic as that and it would never stand up in court but it really did make me think.

  1. Did the defendant owe a duty to the deceased to take care? As a parent, yes.
  2. Did the defendant breach their duty? As a parent, you could suggest yes.
  3. Did the breach cause the death of the deceased? Well yes, and...
  4. Was the defendant's negligence gross, that is, it showed such a disregard for the life and safety of others as to amount to a crime and deserve punishment? Not sure.
The emboldened final phrase is where the case would stop, however it really did make me think.

You would think that the thought of contributing to your own child's death would be enough of a punishment in itself. I know it doesn't work like that and it doesn't bring said child back.

I completely disagree that parents shouldn’t have a choice. Children don’t belong to the state.

What do you mean by ‘everyone who can be vaccinated’? Who can’t?

The sniffles... or brain damage. It’s rare but it does happen and until there are no side effects involved it cannot be made compulsory. Unless you’re into totalitarianism?

Cool, you can refuse to vaccinate you kid, but you have to keep them in solitary confinement.

Why should a parent's stupidity and unwillingness to believe facts, research and science to make an informed decision, impact on the health of others?
