USA and South America Market Growth

We absolutely dropped the ball promoting ourselves in the States (or lack thereof) when we had Tim Howard (And Donovan on loan)

Look at how many US based blues there are on here, imagine how many there would be and how much bigger our international draw would have been if we'd taken proper commercial advantage of that?

Good to see the club seems to be trying to take steps forward in that department with this transfer.

Huge by us.
Actions speak louder than words, but if they capitalise in it, then it’s going to be great.

Considering Football hasn’t really been popular in American until mid 2000s (realistically), we’ve amassed quite a big fan base in America, but it should be bigger.

James Rodriguez is the poster boy of Latín America along with Messi etc... go to Colombia and it’s all about him.
50 million live in Colombia, and you’ve still realistically got the Central American audience to go for.

Get some games in against America de Calí and Milionares and instantly we’ve cracked Colombia.

Huge scope, let’s hope we can crack it

What massive (legit) Colombian companies are there that can give us £10m a year for the sleeve sponsorship?

Amazing really.

This is the same club that had the best player in South Africa , Australia , America , china (at one time) with a Thai sponsor and did nothing with it.

So refreshing to see us being ran by competent people now making actually good business decisions in terms of marketing. A breath of fresh air , kenwrights Everton would just be wondering why we aren't profiting after doing nothing at all about it.

The same club setting up American hq and trying to grasp the Colombian market now was the one who made Nike buy their shirts from us to be able to sell them in their own stores.
I've said this for years. Even include when Rooney went to DC United, they did NOTHING there with it. Just absolutely no foresight way too often with this club.

I still look back on the Howard and Donovan time and wonder what could have been here in the USA had Donovan stuck around.

As far as James, the best thing he can do is help us win on the field, maybe make sports center from time to time. along with Mina, we now have a nice collection so many Colombians may pay more attention, but Columbia is still a small country.

If it was about drawing more fans, esp in the US, a top Mexican (Jimenez or Lozano) would mean more. Honestly, us building a collection of Brazilians may mean more, esp rising stars like richarlison.

again, it only means anything if we win. We need to be in top half of table all year, be entertaining, and finish top 6 to see a real change in fandom and media coverage.

Absolutely true. Howard and Donovan led me to the club. Stateside promotion and summer tours would have been huge.

OTOH you lot would have had to deal with even more f’ng Americans so there’s that
