Ive watched the trailer about 10 times already.

But then Tenets trailer was also amazing.........

To me that’s just a self indulgent waste of money and unnecessary risk to the team that set it up.
CGI / green screen nowadays makes stunts like that pointless.
I also wonder how much more time, money and effort went into it because he was doing the stunt rather than a stuntman.
That said he clearly likes doing these stunts, but it does leave me feeling it’s only a matter of time before one of them catches up to him.

Everything you said before this is correct, but this first line is the 'why' he does it.

He clearly loves doing this stuff, and nobody says no to Tom Cruise in Hollywood. He's arguably the last genuine movie star in the grand sense.
