Theres no way Lescotts leaving, imagine if we got an injury at centre back, it doesnt bear thinking about. I think Baines will stay Moyes has said a few times he sees him as our long term left back, the only way i think Moyes would let him go is if we were offered silly money for him and i cant see Kinnear getting much of that.

Im not to worried about City, I think theyl sign Santa Cruz and pick of one or two form the likes of Pompey. Moyes i dont think will let anyone go in Jan.

The thing about City is they blew close to 70 million in the summer and are still one place of the relegation zone. Imagine the team wed have with that wad.

Id like a Sean Davis type charicter for central midfeild, a covering winger and striker on loan.

If we get a decent offer for Lescott he will go. I wouldn't take anything less than 20m but i reckon Moyes might take anywhere between 10-15m depending on if Lescott wants to go.

Simply because that one sale will (unless it goes towards Kirkby) give Moyes money he wouldn't otherwise of had.

I believe now Moyes realises he has to go back to bargian hunting so will do what he does best and pick up 3 or 4 at least for the sacrifice of 1 player.

Three reasons i think he wont mate:

- Lack of cover at centre half, pure armagegedon if a centre half gets injured.

- I think if another top player leaves others will start to question there futures, theres some big contracts that will need to be tied up in the not to distant future, which is why i also think we may spend a bit this summer.

- The story is in all honesty is possibly a load of [Poor language removed]!

Lesscot's settled here, he's going nowhere. I'm not in the least bit worried about him leaving. He signed a contract when Arsenal were rumored to be sniffing around last season, and has displayed the "why-the-[Poor language removed]-would-I-need-to-move-when-I-love-it-here" attitude.

I'm going to sound like a prick here, I'm [Poor language removed] thankful we've got a player like Lescott, but he needs to keep getting back on form defensively after the bad start to the season he's had. He's great goalscorer and has saved us offensively a number of times but his lapses in concentration, as well as Yobo's and Jagielka's, have cost us this season (fuckups against Liege and Villa come to mind). He was for the most part good against City, except for that SWP shot which hit the bar and almost cost us big time, don't know what he was doing backpedalling there. He just hasn't been as strong defensively as he's been over the past two seasons and I just hope that it's not a result of him being played at left back. I know it's never going to happen, but I'd still rather see him the center presuming he gets back to his best - I still maintain that he's easily our best center half.

I don't mean to slander our defense, but I wouldn't be so critical of their lapses in concentration if I didn't believe them to be top-class defenders. We're just starting to play good football, the only thing that's going to keep us back, as we've seen in the Villa game, is injuries and bad defensive fuckups. But really, as long as we keep playing the way we've played in our last three games, the results will keep on coming. (y)

Depends if young Rodwell is ready. I have a feeling either Baines or Lescott could be shopped if we were in dire need of a attacking option. Sounds like Vaughan is done and Yak also. That leaves Vic and Saha available and we know Saha's history. The loan route for a striker but I agree Lescott would be let go for 15 to 18 million although I think that a couple of years down the road.

Back to the initial rumour - since when was Ben Watson playing upfront for Palace?...

City won't get Lescott.

They'll bring in Fabio Grosso or some other proper fullback to play on the left & Matthew Upson or someone like Naldo (keep Robinho happy) for in the middle.

If they threw 15 million at us, i'd take it without a doubt.

I wouldn't, Moyes wouldn't get the 15 million to spend so it'd be a waste really.

No one would offer 15 million for Lescott anyway, we'd be lucky to get 10 million in all honesty. He's a defender and defender don't cost that much compared to attacking players.

Yeah but with the profits he would then buy in a centre half, Baines would be first choice left back with Valente as cover if fit or get some cheapo left back in.

He can then buy a dm and a winger with the money left over. Thats not including any extra transfer budget he might get in the summer (ok stop snigggering at the back) :)

I dont particulary like the idea but i can see it as a possibilty in the summer if Moyes wants to spend but Bill gives him no money.

I hope Lescott is happy here but those rumours of him not being happy playing lb aint going away!

I know that, inflation is on the decrease mate, but on what planet would we get a replacement centre half (half as good as lescott) a DM with some left over. 1 Fellaini = 15 mill.

Would do noting but reduce quality for quantity! I dont think Moyes would go that route, if anything he is to bloody minded and obsessed with adding quality to the squad.

Jags has been the player of the season for me so his place is pretty much first on the teamsheet . But Yobo ? I dont know I am beginning to think that maybe we should get rid of him in order to put some much needed cash into the pot for a striker . I wouldnt get rid of Lescott that is a bad move as he is young has bags of potential and is now showing signs of coming out of his poor form . SELL [Poor language removed] ARTETA thats what I say . 12 million thankyou very much oh and you can have Yobo for an extra 3 million . Thats 15 million for Santa Cruz right there(n)

Sell Yobo and we'd only have 2 centre backs which isn't enough, especially when one plays at left back most of the time. Not for me to be honest.

I think selling Arteta would be a bad move aswell, we'd be losing alot of creativity. We can't leave it all to Pienaar. Even if we bought Santa Cruz he'd have a piss poor midfield behind him, no creativity.

Lescott has been [Poor language removed] this season, but he has started to show glimpses of his terrific form of last season, therefore I dont think we should let him go.

However, anything above 15-20 million then we should sell him, he just isnt worth that amount of cash, and we could get an excellent defensive midfielder with the money.

15-20 million pound could get you your Moutinho's, Arshavins etc, alltho we would probably be best getting someone in the Mbia / Diarra mold.

Lack of cover in defense is an issue, but sometimes you have to take risks, PLUS we also have Baines, RODWELL (who is said to be a boss centre half) and the versatile Phil Neville, and talk of Valente, Hibbert and Jacobsen coming back sooner or later.

I doubt it will happen but for 15million they can have him IMO.

Didnt Rio go for something like 28m? (y)

Lescott has the potential to be in that class if not better
