2025/26 Tyler Dibling

He’s stuck between wanting to not give the ball away and knowing that he is a player that is expected to make things happen. So he’s getting the ball, squaring up to his man wondering if he should take him on whilst wiggling his feet, the double team arrives and the safety first thought creeps back in and he passes inside. Makes it look like he’s playing too slowly. To be fair Grealish does the same but for different reasons.

He will be fine if he can just learn to play instinctively angain and without worrying so much about how his performance “looks”.

I can cope with him losing the ball high up the pitch if the rest of the time he is panicking the defenders, getting crosses in and causing a bit of chaos. An overlapping teammate would work wonders.

Said this myself the other day mate “ He looks scared to try anything. Could be down to confidence and he’s keeping it simple because he doesn’t want to cock - up.”

He needs Moyes to just tell him to go out and enjoy himself and show us what he’s got. I know that’s not going to happen though.

He has a strange demeanour, He gives me the impression he doesn’t want to be here, not convinced he will be here too long.

I was waiting for someone to say this tbh. His body language has been the same every time I see him play, including at Southampton.

To begin with, I thought this might be an issue of some sort, but I think it's just the way he is

I measure it by my gut reaction as a pass from a teammate approaches him. I felt confident it would be well controlled and held long enough to keep possession...can't say that about many playing yesterday. Seems like the rest of the team felt the same.

I still think he’s quite Grealish slow in possession but sometimes that’s just the player.

…..encouraged by that, maybe the best thing that came out of a poor team performance.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall to hear how much he goes on about not giving the ball away…… Dibling probably terrified of not doing exactly what he’s told for fear of being benched again for another 3 months.
Moyes will permit 1 possibly 2 flair players, Grealish is golden balls, fortunately Skiliman can graft as well as sparkle.
Not sure Dibling has the graft bit covered off and probably knows it.

…. ask City players about how Guardiola despises losing possession, ask any manager how they demand hard work from their skilful players. SAF demanded it too, weird how the anti-Moyes brigade criticise him for wanting the team to keep possession, I’d have thought it’d be the least fans want from their players.

Moyes brought in KDH to replace Doucoure. Moyes brought in Grealish and Dibling.

3 ‘flair’ players turn out most games if we consider KDH, Grealish and Ndiaye to be in that category. I often wonder if posters fail to read back what they’ve written before they post :lol:

You really comparing our team and the tactics Guardiola employs at City?
KDH is a flair player?
Then questioning if I read what I write before posting?

….😀😀your reply was so predictable. You criticise an Everton manager for wanting his players to keep possession, but it’s what managers in the top level demand, just like they demand hard work.

Moyes will only play 1 flair player, 2 at the most. Arteta, Baines, Osman, Pienaar weren’t exactly cloggers. I saw them play in the same Moyes team plenty. I do think KDH is a flair player. Just because he works his socks off doesn’t mean he lacks quality, very skilfull midfielder that lad.

There’s keeping possession to dominate a match and there’s keeping possession due to being risk averse.
Maybe too subtle for you 🙄

And if Baines, Osman KDH are your bench mark for flair players, no wonder you are so content with middling Moyes.
Nil Satis Moyes Optimum / W.W.P.D.

Anyway this is Diblings thread, can debate your Poundland Pep in his own thread if you insist.

a couple of appearances, initial impressions are slow and steady, rather than fast and furious. Happy to wait and see how he develops, as said could all change after a few starts and he feels the boys round him and the gaffer have faith in him. Personally would want to see more of him with our 'better' players round him tbh.

Bet his heart sank a little when he saw he would be starting alongside Mcneil and McBeto.
