2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Mcneil looked like he was trying to hard to make an impression. There was no flow there he was clearly putting himself under a lot of pressure

I haven’t to say I don’t think ‘trying too hard’ was McNeils issue. He bottled out of about 5 challenges and was slow, weak and lazy.
I’d actually be amazed if we see him on the pitch again.

Its a tough one really, our 2 best players are the 2 wingers...so its easy to see why he has not played much.

We ALL screamed for a right winger all summmer, and got one.

Its just one of them where we and him will have to wait for his chance.

Not sure any of us really expected Ndiaye to step up this much as THE right winger, else we would not have all screamed for a right winger.

Strange football really.

The strange thing is that even though they are clearly our best two players, they do hamper us to an extent. Both drop deep to collect the ball to feet, and neither have the pace to run in behind and have the ball played in front of them.

It means we have to work very hard to score a goal, whereas look at say, West Ham’s goal against us, it’s just pure pace from Somerville that causes it.

Ideally one should be in the middle with a direct, pacey player on the other flank. Unfortunately we’ve only got Dibling who wants to do the same thing, or McNeil, who couldn’t outrun a glacier. Poor planning.

….given the game situation, I admit that I’d have brought McNeil on. I know it’s not trendy to admit that but I could understand the rationale.

McNeil has been one of our better players for 18 months, Dibling has been a big disappointment. McNeil then literally stunk the place out with his performance, he was awful. I suspect the baton will now pass back to Dibling, it’s up to one of them to grasp an opportunity.

A bit like alternating Harrison/Lindstrom and Beto/Barry. There will always be a clamour for the one that isn’t used, especially Dibling because he’s a big bucks signing and we all want him to be the real deal.
Mcneil in previous years possibly, but at the moment your bringing on his attitude with him.

I was amazed we saw him again after the cup game.

There was the moment when he got a slight brush on his back, no way he even felt it and he dived to the floor and just lay there as they ran off with the ball.

There's no way people are defending/agreeing with that sub last week.

McNeil's performance when he came on is exactly what we were all expecting when his number came up. He should be sold in January if we can shift him.

And to say Dibling has looked poor is just silly to me, he's barely had a chance to do anything. Was unlucky to get hooked at half time against Palace as he'd been fine, we were getting battered and Moyes wanted to make drastic changes at half time.

Same people that were Dychettes will clearly now put moyes on the same pedestal. Why is it always throwing young players under the bus instead of criticising the manager.

No I think McNeil is a better player than he has shown this season because of lack of game time—- it’s as simple as that, training is different to playing as you know Eggs and McNeil, Dibling, Barry and others are not match fit and should be used more as subs. as long as it is more than the last few minutes, I don’t to tell you or anyone else that today’s football is a squad game with a lot of clubs or most using the five they are allocated.

….yep. It does help when players can be trusted to perform when they are involved but the difficulty comes when appearances are sub-standard and likely to cost us games.

You see it on here, posters not wanting McNeil involved, yet he might need game time. Similar with Dibling, posters want him to have a ‘run of games’ but will complain if his performances continue to be poor.

Who’d be a manager, eh.

It depends what you mean by defending or agreeing with the sub really. Obviously in hindsight I don't agree with it because McNeil was utterly horrific when he came on, and I can't say that was hugely impressed when I saw it was what we were going to do either, but I can't sit here and say it was an absolutely indefensible decision that made no sense on any level, because that's just not true. McNeil has been a regular starter for us for the last few years and is an experienced PL player, the basic premise of him being able to come on and do a job for us for half an hour was absolutely fine. You're right that people also did this with Dyche, instead of just focusing on the actual negatives he brought they went down a weird rabbit hole of making out like everything he did was totally laughable and so diluted the real criticisms because it all just became such overly hysterical nonsense.

His very first involvement was having a go at O’Brien for daring to pass near Dwight’s right foot for which he immediately lost the ball. His display went even further downhill from then on and he couldn’t even be bothered putting in the effort needed tracking runners either. His head’s completely gone, needs punting in Jan so he can no longer be an option.
