2025/26 Tyler Dibling

He can beat a player, but he relies on skill to do it. He can’t beat a player by knocking it past them and then using pace to get past them. He doesn’t seem to have any acceleration at all and runs like he’s wearing concrete boots.

…looks like he ‘stands players up’ rather than use pace, a bit like Grealish but he needs to do it in more threatening areas.

I asked a few times on here whether he had pace before we signed him.

That's what we desperately needed to address in the summer out wide.

From the very limited game time, he's not a winger who'll stretch play/give us that pace out wide, so it'll be interesting to see how we use him.
Agreed. Can see why he’d look good last season in a team pinned back in their own half. Looks like he’s good at carrying the ball with space in front of him.

As an out and out winger, might not be the best fit for his attributes and definitely not without a fullback giving him some help out there.

He definitely looks like a player who played under Martin's style at Southampton. He is good at recycling the ball and is tidy in possession, but he doesn't actually do anything that hurts defences. I would be very confident he has the ability to fix that, but it's on our coaches to teach him how to play quicker and much more direct. He needs to be willing to take risks in the final attacking third because we didn't bring him here to turn back inside and keep the ball.

He deserves time and patience because he is still very young and played in a poor team last year, who played what is IMO a terrible brand of football. I would have much preferred a more direct and quicker player who would run in behind but that's not his game and we need to allow him time to adapt to Moyes style. It's frustrating because he cost 40m, but that's not his fault and it's due to the recruitment. We need to now see that the club know how to develop a talented player into a player who will win us matches.

Said this when they rejected £25mill or so. Should've walked away then and got someone who would stretch a team and fullback cover.

But got shot down with someone even saying Dibling was "similar to Mane" 😂

Russell Martin said he’d be an 8 or a 10 but they used him on the right. He doesn’t look like a traditional winger. He’s good at carrying the ball for sure but he’s not looking like an electric tricky winger who beats a man.

Got talent no doubt. Is it the type of talent we needed or that Moyes is capable of nurturing/developing. Not so sure, we’ll have to see.

The current biggest fraud in football
