2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Russell Martin said he’d be an 8 or a 10 but they used him on the right. He doesn’t look like a traditional winger. He’s good at carrying the ball for sure but he’s not looking like an electric tricky winger who beats a man.

Got talent no doubt. Is it the type of talent we needed or that Moyes is capable of nurturing/developing. Not so sure, we’ll have to see.

I find it hard to judge him on last night's performance.

It certainly wasn't impressive but he was thrown into a scratch team.

What Moyes should have done was make no more than 3 changes and then you could make a meaningful analysis if he was playing with a virtually full strength team.

What I would say is that Illy looked 3 times the player when he came in and played wide right.
Can't disagree with that, but I'd give the same argument as Barry here in that it's much easier to look better when KDH, Grealish etc are on the pitch giving you the ball rather than Alcaraz and McNeil

Agreed.

He needs to have Grealish, and KDH/Illy on the pitch with him, to give him the best chance of seeing more of the ball, higher up the pitch.

What ball he did see, he was scrapping for on the halfway line, and then when he got himself facing goal he had woefully few options.

No offence, mate, but are you aware of how he's doing at Rangers? Weakest Celtic in years and 9 points behind already.

Maybe nurture him as a nr 9 lol

Felt like once again our right winger was easy to double up on because we didn’t have a proper right back. Even if Coleman was right back and JOB was left back I think the balance of the team would of been much better and Dibbling would of been freed up
Think this is very true. If you do have playmakers wide men instead of natural wingers, they’re not knocking it past two men and beating them with pace. They need fullbacks making space for them, making runs off them etc - it’s going to be difficult to see how that changes with the fullbacks we have, a centre back and a defensive left back. We’ll have to wait for personnel changes.

Better players need the ball and will play better with better players around them. Really strange way of bedding both him and Barry in by surrounding them with lesser footballers than we had available, to setup to go long and not want the ball, especially if you don’t want to put too much pressure on them.

The huge amount of money spent on him means the pressure is on immediately. I mentioned it at the time, he'd have to hit the ground running. Well, we've had a 40m player sitting on the bench and he got his first start tonigjt. I thought he done ok. ok won't cut it at the minute though

Crazy as it sounds 40m isn’t a huge amount to spend … not nowadays

Gibbs white went for more a few years ago without getting into the wolves team that much

I’m happy to go with Russell Martin’s assessment given the time he spent with Dibling, but heh, tis a modern world and my kids keep telling me I need to move with the times so I got this view from AI :
Tyler Dibling is a versatile player who is most dangerous as a number 10 but can also play as a number eight, on the wing, or even as a false nine. While his talent is often associated with the number 10 position, where he can effectively operate between the lines and create goal-scoring opportunities, his former manager noted his capability to play in multiple central and wide attacking roles.

Playing style and positional versatility:
  • Number 10:
This is considered his most effective position by many, due to his ability to receive the ball in deeper areas, turn, and drive towards goal.

  • Number Eight:
He also possesses the attributes to play as a number eight, demonstrating physicality in his transitional play.
