We don't know but it's the most likely answer. I think Moyes just totally lost faith in the player after the game in the FA Cup. It was a really really bad performance from him and he didn't look interested in the game that day.
Or he could behave like an elite level player and force his way in to the first team, if the players in front of him are as bad as you say shouldn’t be to hard for him. Judging by the reports before we signed him he had everything he needed to be a top player.
So why hasn’t he been able to do it all season??

I personally think it's so much outside his usual manner, that he had no say in the matter. Typical canny Scot and all that, £40m for him to spend, really?
Tbf not every decent player has top teams battling for their signature, Ndaiye and KDH being prime examples. I’m just not sure why we signed him to then not play him.

Given that there were numerous occasions when once it was common knowledge we were in for a player other clubs would hi-jack the move and we'd lose out, I was mighty surprised we actually landed the player.
To be fair every time George comes on for McNeil he does more than McNeil did in all the time he was on yet, McNeil starts the next game ahead of George.

It means Moyes spent a fortune on a crap player. It's by no means the first time. He bought Bilyaletdinov, and a load of expensive crap at West Ham: Scamacca, James Ward-Prowse etc. I think he even bought Vlasic after he had already shown how crap he was at Everton.

He's just not though mate. Not saying he's ready to be starting every week for a serious PL team, but I've seen enough watching him for Southampton and England unders to know he's not just crap. Especially when the player keeping him out the side is McNeil.
In the context of Rohl, Alcaraz, Aznou and now even Armstrong being frozen out (Armstrong who was previously the example being used of Moyes being willing to blood young players) it's hard not to infer that Moyes has no interest in the longer term. He has a 2 year contract and he seemingly doesn't care about what happens beyond those 2 years.
