I genuinely dont get why people think that he can come on having barely had time on the pitch at all this season and just start beating players who are sat back defending with no support whatsoever. Not even the best players in the world do that regularly. We literally see with Grealish a lot of the time he isn't so much beating his man as much as he's pulling them away and opening up space but the difference is he not only has the confidence on the ball to do that but we almost always surround him with options, its quite literally the opposite on the other side where Dibling regularly just gets given the ball and is expected to just go past one or two players and then also find the one striker upfront that we have.

He looks like one of those players that's probably too much for the Championship but not enough for the Prem imo.
I thought he tried to the right things more often today but unfortunately it didn't come off. I can live with that for now. Much prefer that to doing absolutely nothing with no intensity like the Sunderland game

He was being doubled up on everytime which creates space for other players, that alone is genuinely enough to start him over McNeil because a traffic cone can mark him

I watched him a couple of times last year and he was a different player to what we're seeing now. Doesn't look like he can compete at this level.
It sounds ridiculously old school but I'd be telling him to roll up his sleeves and just liven up more. Absolutely impossible to affect a game of football when you're as passive as he is.

And he does the same trick all the time: draw the defender cutting back to his left and lose the ball. Or draw 2 defenders and go through them. Kid looks unhappy too

Even when he gets a step on them, instead of getting his shoulder in front of them and driving onwards, at the very least getting fouled; he does that thing kids do, drags it back and tries to beat them again. By that time there is no space.
Clearly brilliant at manoeuvring the ball, but what’s the aim? Bags of talent, but either hasn’t been coached to be an effective football player, or has resisted coaching and is unfocused in training.
A very very hot take, but have thought the same every time he’s played.
We may have bought him for the future. But does anyone know what we’ve bought? What will we actually get in the future? A Lee Trundle-esque show-pony?

I thought he showed some great touches. Not taking that chance to shoot was a mistake though.

Doesn’t matter it’s what we paid so will come with that price tag unfortunately. Can get a Garner and KDH for that money or KDH, Ndiaye. Whether he chose the price tag or not that’s what he’s cost so I expect and will judge him on that fee, if he come through the academy you’d probably be saying loan him out never mind £40m.

He does seem to have an unhelpful knack of always choosing the wrong option. It's a shame because he actually got himself in a really good position to get a shot off.
