2025/26 Tyler Dibling

“I’m not going to tell him why he was subbed off at half time”

Next sentence

“I hope he picks up those points on why he was subbed off”

Might help if you told him then David you absolute beaut rather than leave him to guess.
Giving this some thought - those two sentences are irreconcilable.

Did he not mean that during the half time break he didn't tell him why he was subbed off. He told him why later and hope that he ( Tyler ) picks up on the reasoning?

That makes a lot more sense.

I CBA listening to any managers pressers especially DM.

However, did he really say that?

If he did it's inexplicable that he wouldn't be explaining ( in depth ) why any player was subbed off especially an inexperienced youngster.
He's quoted as saying it via multiple sources. I'm pretty certain he said it. It's really odd.

He gave the ball away and he gave 3 or 4 stupid fouls away. I’m sure he’s well aware of why he was subbed.

Goes without saying we aren’t exactly helping the lad, he needs a proper full back, and ideally KDH somewhere near him.

There's been a lot said about Dibling potentially not settling and the issues he's had in the past with homesickness, if that's true (and I accept it is a big if) being cold shouldered by your manager isn't going to help. I find the whole situation very strange.

Moyes was also quoted saying he doesnt think those are issues.

In one of the links to Moyes' nonsense posted earlier in this thread.

He means he's not telling him AGAIN, as he's already been told a couple of times

" Moyes, though, says he will not tell Dibling directly why he was taken off at the interval during a poor 4-2 defeat to Brentford on Sunday.
‘In the main I will but I didn’t do this time, because I’ve done it a couple of times and I want him to start realising he’s not going to get an explanation for every time,’ insisted Moyes when asked if he spoke to Dibling about the substitution."

It’s really bad man management by Moyes.

I’ve aired this concern since the season started.

Could have managed this way better over the course of the season than he has, not just with Dibling but all the younger players.
He basically wants them all to do an apprenticeship of 5 years and then maybe get on the bench and pitch from there.

He's a dinosaur that has to go.

That would make more sense but no, that’s not what he meant.

Was asked if he’d explained why he took him off at half time and he said words to the effect of - no, I’ve not told him or spoken to him about it, he’ll have to reflect and work it out for himself. He did mention that he’d spoke. To him on previous occasions about what he wanted to more of but on this occasion hasn’t spoken to Dibling about it. Next sentence goes on to say - I hope he picks up the pint a on why he was subbed off. Leaving Dibling to work it out for himself.

Was it the same reason(s) as he’s spoken to him about previously, similar, something else? Who knows.

Or management if you ask me for such a young player.

It's terrible management of a young player. Surely the job of a manager is to explain what he wants from his players? I understand him wanting Dibling to understand when he's not giving him what he wants but you have to explain to the lad what he's doing wrong so that he can work on it.
Even if he feels like he’s told him before - having a quiet word to reiterate, encourage etc would be good man management. Can’t help but feel he’s not got a good manner for a young, quiet guy who needs brought out his shell and encouraged. He’s more of the real you to make you mould which works for some characters but not all.

If we keep playing him, at some point a loose ball will drop at the back stick for him to lash in. He really really really needs that roar from the fans.

I no great fan of the idea of Seamus being our starting RB, but do wonder what half a dozen games playing in front of him would have done for Dibling.

Why spend a relative fortune on him if you can't get him to perform?

Whatever way you slice this, Moyes - who wouldn't sign a contract at West Ham that denuded him of say over transfers - comes out of it badly. He wouldn't have been signed without the Moyesiah's approval, so his failure to get the best out of him is damning.
