I've seen the lad play and he's got great potential but in all honesty, last match at Goodison I paid no attention whatsoever to Southampton players!

I thought that Southampton were quite poor in that match (unsurprising as they did finish rock bottom) and did not offer anything until Ross Stewart had a decent chance in the closing stages.

He may be worth it in this current market and might be worth 60-70m in the future but I think for us the risk is too big at 40m. I wouldn’t be signing players for more than 30m with our track record, at least until this new regime have proven themselves.
