Transfer Rumour Tyler Dibling

Do we think fellows and Wesley are what we should be aiming for?

Would you be happy if Moyes bought them?

Not sure I would.

Would I have liked us to sign a 21 year old Brazilian international right back with the following awards:

Flamengo
Copa Libertadores: 2022
Copa do Brasil: 2024
Supercopa do Brasil: 2025
Campeonato Carioca: 2024, 2025

Individual
Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Team of the Year: 2024
Copa do Brasil Team of the Season: 2024

Someone that City were monitoring and has moved to Roma.

Well, for €25mil yes I'd have been very happy if Moyes hadnt stopped Thelwell from doing this deal in January, right before he was made a full Brazilian international.

As for Fellows, I dont particularly rate him but with a rumoured £8mil fee, we could have played him 2nd half of the season over Harrison and generated a profit this summer by offloading him, or at least have had him as a backup.

It is generally applied to someone who is large and has a propensity for violence.
When applied in football it is more likely ( though not exclusively) to be attached to a tough tackling centre back .
It isn’t really descriptive of a young , talented and skilful player such as Dibling .
Usually heard it applied to a useful but very limited defender. As in alright as long as they stay in their yard.

Wonder if the lad is in the squad today ?.
My recollection of him last season is limited to the last GP game, even think he got subbed that day.
If he does indeed play, I'll be interested as to what all the fuss is about.

Moyes came in jan and stopped moves for players happening. Two names released were Fellows and Wesley.

You mention next summer. Where will the money come from once Moyes has spent £150mil this summer?
Moyes vindicated for not making panic buys last Jan and that gives me confidence in his decision making.
If we spend 150m it likely means Dibling plus 1 more purchase. More positions resolved.

Next summers cash will be fuelled by toffee doughnut sales, which will go a long way we we are shopping in the trendy young player European market

The idea of paying over the top for a young lad with potential is that you are taking all the risk in the hope that you might one day be able to recoup some of that money back so as to not put the business at risk. Agreeing to also give some of that money back to the club that already received an excessive fee with no risk to themselves would just be really poor business. It's simple really, if Southampton want a share of any profits made then fine, lower the asking price to something more reasonable and less risky. That is why Everton wont agree to the current deals on the table because it would be poor business on their behalf. The high price negates the need for a sell on fee.

Agree here. Would feel a lot better if we had a right back and at least a spare right winger already in.

Thelwell with limited money in Jan was after Fellows & Wesley which would have sorted the right hand side for the 2nd half of the season.

Thelwell with £150mil this summer would have likely improved the RW again with Fellows becoming a squad player.

Thelwell was good.

Because Chelsea wanted to bin him.

Just like they wanted to bin KDH.
I think Wesley was a lazy link,
I doubt we were getting him
We could have had fellows and the winger from Lyon but Moyes pulled the plug.

We shouldn’t buy players based on a business deal. I hope he comes in and stays. 7/8 years and is fantastic for us.
I hope our recruitment team aren’t looking at players that they can flip for profit in 2 or 3 years

I hope we get him as well mate but the reality is that the club not caring about the business side of things is what lead us to multiple relegation battles, point deductions and the brink of administration. You can have players that stay for 7 or 8 years without putting the club at too much risk. We just have to deal with things in a business sense better than we used to which is what we are doing from what i can see.
