So, we are saying our plan for next season, in a league that relies on metrics if the finest measure, our transfer strategy is built about putting players on various wings depending upon who else we sign

Nonsense, soz
I thought you said we had no plan? You’re all over the place here mate. Soz.

From my Soton season ticket holding mate:

“He has all the skills, can be electric, but got injured and wasn't the same in the second half of the season. I hope he gets his mojo back, I won £100 off his first goal so I'm a fan. Best position is Attacking central midfielder.”

Russell Martin has said he sees him has a No.10 and not a winger, think he said that when talking about him on Monday night football once when he was on it

It amazes me how many people in this thread have not noticed that in the year 2025 more teams use a right footer on the left and a leftie on the right than the 70/80s left on left, right on right. This is because more goals and assists come from cutting in and shooting/linking up than old fashioned crosses on the run. We have tall strikers but they are both more effective running in behind than as old school 9s. Given time to adjust McNeil absolutely can provide at least functional depth on the right IMO.
