lol **** off Martinez. The guy is losing his head by the day. Hibbo > Browning in every situation on a football pitch!

That must be one of the youngest back 4's we have had for ages. Love that.

Van Den Hauwe 23, Ratcliffe 23, Mountfield 22, Stevens 21

Thats the only back 4 i can think of that compares age wise mate

shocking how young the back 4 was for us in 84-85 though in hindsight

If we keep hold of stones though the curreent back 4 when Jags/Baines/Coleman finishes could be a very similar age

We've certainly got some cracking young players in the squad, and it's heartening given that it wasn't that long ago that there was a lot of talk about how old the squad looked.

Whilst we often grumble about lack of new signings each window, I think with the quality we have coming through, our main goal must be to keep the squad together so it has a chance to see where it can get to.

The game time that Martinez gives to the kids will hopefully pay dividends in future recruitment of promising youngsters as well since a lot of other clubs don't seem interested in internal development leading to first team appearances - they just want to buy ready made players and use their acadamies for trading profits.

EVERTON youngster Tyias Browning has been named in the Barclays Premier League Team of the Week - on his full debut!

The 21-year-old defender made his full Premier League start on Saturday at Swansea, after two substitute appearances last season at Anfield and Old Trafford.

And his performance to keep the in-form Jefferson Montero quiet was enough for the UK’s biggest news agency, Press Association, to name him in their team of the week.

Think he isn't as natural, or maybe confident is a better word, with ball at feet as some of our other young defenders but his 1-1 defending is exceptional.

Will be a very handy PL defender even if he doesn't develop much more.

People often comment that the best CB partnerships are those where one is the ball player whilst the other is the no nonsense tackler - if that is true then a Galloway/Browning combination might be very effective.

Word about him was he lacked confidence and that was holding him back, same thing used to be said about Llundstram as well and he never got past it, Browning hopefully has and that début will help massively, still think it's curious that a few of the young players who developed mainly under Moyes time here seemed to have fragile confidence - even Barkley could have that levelled at him, seems completely opposite to the way Martinez develops younger players and fills them with confidence

Think that's just one of those things everyone says and no one actually has a clue if it's true, pretty sure Barca, Bayern, Madrid don't have a clogger and seem to do ok ;)

Thought he struggled in the 1st half and gave Montero too much space, standing off him repeatedly. Improved in the 2nd but that was mainly due to us dominating them as they couldn't get out of their half.

He is decent, can tackle and has decent passing ability.

Ha, that is why I put the qualifier in!

And tbf to Browning he is a long way from a clogger, his ball control has improved quite a lot and, although it will probably never be at a Stones like level, imo it is already better than Distin's who was an excellent defender for us at his peak.
