"Two things have unarguably changed since Martinez took over"

...it was a very difficult job taking over from a long serving manager, but for me he has improved the atmosphere with the club. This is a major achievement, especially as the players were used to working under his predecessor. He's not only kept the happy ship mentality, he seems to have enhanced it.

Yes - minus his goals where would we be

Even if Moyes had Lukaku, he would have him chasing into the channels and feeding off long balls to Felli.

I guess we will never know....so I am just happy to focus on what Bobby is doing. Moyes is gone. You wouldn't keep complaining about that miserable ex girlfriend who'd only let you do her one way, when you have an exotic younger model who knows all the tricks and is happy to broaden your horizons!

No joke intended - we attack through the middle now. Under Moyes it seemed his main strategy was to get the ball down the flanks and put in as many crosses as possible. Under Martinez, it seems he is more keen to try and unlock defenses with passing and movement.

Of course nothing is black and white. It's not like we never scored through clever play under Moyes, and it's not like we never cross the ball into the box now. But the emphasis IS different. At least to my eyes.

I could be full of **** though.

I think the competition for places has a lot to do with it. Players are coming off the bench wanting to impress because they know that team selection is now based on merit.

I imagine that Martinez is instructing the likes of Pienaar and Osman to gamble on getting forward too, whereas Moyes seemed to want substitutes to work within the system and not take any chances which might cost us the game.

My point was not what would moyes have done with lukaku but what would martinez be doing without him and had to rely on jelavic as moyes did. I submit that the results would have been half as good without lukaku.

I'm not sure Jelavic would be here if Martinez was the manager at the time, so it's a bit of a moot point either way.

Of which he'd seen ample demonstartion of where exactly?

Well... Wigan.

You could see their style of play, but they lacked the class of talent necessary to see success. It isnt by accident that Martinez has attracted a lot of followers. He clearly shows class on and off the field which i would suggest is why we have Lukaku, Delefeou and McCarthy...

...that and loosening on the purse.

1 - we are less ginger

2 - We don't immediately sit on 1 - 0 leads

This Moyes hoofball thing.... wasn't everyone up in arms when Gerrard said the same thing last season?

Yes, because the match stats demonstrated that Everton played the greater amount of football on the ground in that game.

We were never really a hoofball team per se. We passed the ball well in attack, the difference in the team is how we get from defense to attack now.
