'Machines of loving grace" was excellent, 'House' is awesome, but there is a problem. Currently there is very little on tv, sport is starting to dry up, so what recommendations does the forum have? know HBO like the back of my hand so thats all done. I recently checked the archives and rediscovered 'Clive James Postcards' series which has helped sooth withdrawl. So back to the point, what we watching?

Have you seen Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death, Eastbound and Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords, The Wire, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, The Life & Times of Tim and True Blood?

They're all HBO and all ace, albeit different, shows.

P.S. Interesting you say "House is awesome" and not "House was awesome". It's been really poor for a few seasons now, in my opinion. Just another cash cow being milked for all its worth.

Falling Skies is worth a watch.

The special effects are sometimes a bit iffy but I'm enjoying it so far. It's a bit similar to the so far superior The Walking Dead, but it looks promising.

Speaking of AMC shows, if you've not seen Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Killing, you're missing out.

Not a patch on The Walking Dead no but for me it is more like a "Lost" type show anyway. It's ratings plummeted second week though so I am not optimistic it will be renewed. America has no friggin patience!

Oh ffs.

I keep getting into shows only for them to be cancelled. I stuck with Flashforward and The Event recently, when I didn't particularly love either, until the end. Both got really exciting at the end, only to get cancelled. Rubicon was another I quite enjoyed but it got cancelled after one season.

Argh.

Argh.

I got into one on Sky One a while back (it had Brent Spiner in it) and it seemed really good but that got cancelled. It really gets on my tits.

The seasonal switch has hit us a little at MilksHQ where we love our TV shows.

Game of Thrones was far, far better than I envisaged it could be. Hopefully the coming seasons will be able to live up to the first season standard. A medieval/fantasy The Wire.

Justified is for my money the best show on TV right now. Hidden away on Five USA it doesn't get a great deal of press but is fantastically written, well played out and the second season has added a progressive storyline which the first (brief) season lacked.

Dexter season 5 has just started on FX on Friday evenings. I saw the first few episodes when torrenting regularly last year, but since we got a slap on the wrists from our ISP I've had to wait for the UK showing. From what I've heard, it's the best yet.

Anyone who is still on the torrents, True Blood S4 started last week in the states. Hopefully it'll be an improvement on a disappointing S3.

Finally, we've just started on our Sky+ backlog of The Chicago Code, has started well and from the guy who did The Shield (also excellent). I'm distracted however that the lead actor looks just like a lad who was the eternal substitute for my football team for 7/8 seasons.

Add to that, anyone looking to go back and watch some older stuff, I cannot help but suggest: The Wire, Arrested Development, Mad Men (come on S5), Fringe and Boardwalk Empire.

Here endeth what we've been watching.

Excellent stuff, milks.

I've not watched Justified yet but it's on my list (literally, I keep lists of the shows I'm watching/going to watch to keep track, as there's so many!)

Dexter season 5 is great, like the whole series. It's unlike anything else out there really. It's just ballsy.

True Blood season 4 has started now and I've seen the two first eps. I disagree with you on season 3, I as really enjoyed that. That said, I'm not really enjoying season 4 so far. The second episode was better than the first, so I've not given up hope, though.

I'm not watching The Chicago Code as it got cancelled. I was about to start watching it just before I found that out, too, as it is indeed from the guy who did The Shield, and The Shield is one of my favourite ever programs. Before I saw The Wire it was by far my favourite cop show, too.

Fringe is ace -- good shout -- and Arrested Development is Arrested Development. If you've not watched it then shame on you! :P

Watched the first episode of Carnivale the other day - potential, but I'm not sure. I never saw it first time around so I might give it a go.

Other than that, just watch The Wire again, obviously.
