This is an exceptional eight part
documentary:

Flint Town.

Fly on the wall that follows patrol officers in Flint City, Michigan.

In a decade it went from being one of the wealthiest cities in America to one of the poorest, following the closure of the GM factory.

Budget cuts, chronic staff shortages, the breakdown of certain areas of the city and self serving politicians.

Outstanding.
Is that the one which came out a few years ago or a new one? I watched it on Netflix a few years ago(or last year can’t remember) and it was class.

Do it justice my man.

Ok - got through it and sure, it does have it's merits. I look at is a kind of side step into the future, with some unusual and bold choices in terms of narrative. I'm feeling like they still haven't done the source justice... each of the Watchmen and Minutemen were mentally or physically better than normal people. Despite Manhattan being the only one with powers, they all were fashioned as Superheroes. This element is really missing in the show, focusing rather on family and historical social issues. The ending was abit of a letdown. Manhattan was handled pretty badly - he had already experienced human love his arc made no sense. Not including Nite Owl was a miss and turning Rorshach into a far right figurehead was wrong but I could see why they did that.

It was a really well made, and despite my negativity was an actually well thought out show. Frustrating at times but with glimpses of quality that made we want to see how it played out.

Did anyone ever catch Doom Patrol the DC series? Think it's on Prime?

I'm hesitant to start as I just don't trust DC with most things these days.

I've got it but can't get arounf to watching it. Loved the 90's comic run but that started brilliantly got really weird.. like any Grant Morrison work tbh.

Agree with your post except for the Watchmen/Minutemen “superpowers” part. Rorschach is dead, Nite Owl in prison, Silk Spectre an old woman, Ozy an old man and none had any flashbacks of fight scenes. Minutemen had only one character with a fighting flashback and Hooded Justice battered everyone so... not really sure what more they could have done haha.

The new guys - Sister Night, Red Scare, Pirate Jenny. Looking glass. They don’t have powers but you treat them like they do. Really enjoyed the b/w Hooded Justice ep.

Oh wait Ozy catches a bullet in the series as well lol

Clutching here mate! No source material on the new characters, of course, and they’re not in a sense part of a Watchmen-esque group just the police. All good fighters but nothing to suggest they’re portrayed as being super human in any sense.

Well yeah - but thats the point isn’t it? Oh they can wear costumes and have super names with no actual point? The cops wear yellow masks. Missed opportunity.

I don’t think it’s missed. Aside from Dr Manhattan and to an extent Ozy the Minutemen and Watchmen are simply humans in peak physical condition with good fighting/tech/investigating skills etc. Nothing about them is super human. The film sort of overplays it a little IMO. I think the fighting prowess of Looking Glass and Sister Night fits the Watchmen world where there are no super powers just one freak blue guy. They’re all no different to say a Batman.
