'San Junipero' from Season 3 of Black Mirror was one of the finest pieces of TV ever
always been a talented writer, that zombie Apocalypse thing he did was very decentJust finished Designated Survivor up to the middle of season two. It’s all a bit silly, but undemanding and quite gripping. Need to get onto the new Black Mirror episodes next. That Charlie Brooker has come a long - fair play to him.
Yes, ‘Dead Set’ - liked that a lot, and have always enjoyed his ‘Wipe’ shows too. He’s gone from fringe stuff on the smaller BBC channels to international recognition, and it’s well deserved.always been a talented writer, that zombie Apocalypse thing he did was very decent
You've never heard of Black Mirror ?
It started as a cult/critical hit in the UK which aired on Channel 4. After season 2 Netflix picked it up and pumped huge money into it. Since then season 3 and 4 have come out and the shows now bigger than ever. It's probably the most original/unique series on television.
Its an anthology series so each episode is its own story/film. Best episodes to check imo are
Season 1 Episode 3
Season 2 Episode 4
Season 3 Episode 3
Season 3 Episode 4
Season 3 Episode 5
Season 4 Episode 1
Season 4 Episode 4
Season 4 Episode 6
Id class all of those as close to perfect television. You'll notice a big leap in production values between seasons 1-2 and 3-4.
A lot of people start with the first episode or season 1 as you would normally but I think the first two episodes which aired are two of the weakest episodes and not really an accurate reflection of what the show has become. Season 1 Episode 3 is a great place to start, has the core concepts of what makes the show so great... the plot was so good Robert Downey Jnr paid millions for the rights to create a movie from the same concept.
That looks incredibly weird...I also haven't watched stranger things...that seems like a horror type? Not a fan of horror...
Have you seen fauda? Israeli counterterrorism...
Honestly can't recommend Black Mirror highly enough.
How to describe..?
Each episode is like a twisted version of current reality, often where a certain technology has become significantly ingrained into our everyday lives, often with dissatisfying and corrupting results. It's very compelling but uncomfortable viewing. Doesn't ever whack you over the head with absurdities or deus ex machina, it's much smarter than that.
Watched the first episode of the new season of Black Mirror earlier on - just fantastic. That show has really broadened its horizons since moving to Netflix.i'll try it out seeing at you and @longers are such big fans...
Halfway through fauda now....will finish that first.
Just seen episode 1 about the pig!lolI like Black Mirror a fair bit but never felt 'woah, this is the best thing ever'.
Some of the #makesyouthink stuff can be a bit cringey at times.
Blows Electric Dreams from earlier in the year out of the water - watched the first three episodes over the last couple of days and it’s one of the best things I’ve seen in a while. Should also be a new season of Better Call Saul along soon, and there are new episodes of Inside Number 9 starting on BBC tomorrow as well, so got some decent telly to look forward to to help take the edge off January.Black mirror is so good
