TV Money

like i said before i think this will not give us advantage over no one.

Think about it. That money could wipe out all of our depts.

It is a myth

It's extra money that needs to be spent, it's how it is spent that will determine who gets the advantage.

I know you're joking mate but it is real. This article explains how the internet providers of tomorrow are using football as a means of getting families to buy their entire multimedia internet packages with them. Getting the rights to these sport packages are extremely expensive, but they end up costing the likes of SKY and BT nothing at all through the money they generate from advertising sales and pub packages.

Oh and btw, the global TV rights have more than doubled.

If the figures in the article posted are accurate, we'll go from getting £44m a season to £88m.

are you seriously suggesting Everton gets about £80m just like that. Im sure it is tied up into some index or such. we aint seeing that money im absolutely sure.

It is true mate.

ok, it is true.
what does it mean...every team in PL gets approximately the same sum, there will not be competitive edge over any team. only positive thing might be that we can pay our debts away...and ofcourse buy new players, but so does every other team.

Wee need to spend wisely . I would prefer fellaini and use that money for transfers and use one seasons tv money to pay of the debt

We will go from making zero money to making £30m profit per year.

Yup. We tend to spend our money better than most though overall so could possibly make inroads on the teams above us. (Possibly).

It won't. Say we currently make £90m in a season, and Spurs make £160m With the new TV Money, we make £120m, while they make £190m
Might not change the math you were doing too much but Spurs are getting about 9m more than we are. So they go up to 199m. Your point remains fairly unchanged though.

You could make a case for never buying from another Prem team ever again however. Our "advantage" (or lack thereof in many cases) against them financially is still not significant; this grows our advantage over the rest of the world far more than it improves our fortunes against other Prem clubs.

We'll also go from making practically no profit to clearing £20m profit per year.
We still have to keep up with them all though. If we actually realize that profit (or in reality pay down debts since I doubt the banks would be too keen on the board removing 20m without paying down any debt) we'd almost certainly lose ground competitively. So while it is more money it's still more money we are essentially forced to invest in order to retain our position.

Everton Football Club is a house of cards. Any one change is dangerous -- we might be facing a couple of pretty big changes in the summer. We've done well in the past but we don't know if EFC will continue to outperform the market in player transfers after this year.
