Turning the corner.

Burnley turned up yesterday with a game plan that didn’t even entertain the thought of winning the match. It’s something we’ve unfortunately seen ourselves do too many times under the past few managers and they inevitably got burned for it. 3 points was lovely but we have a lot of poor players and until we move them on and stop replacing good players with bad ones we haven’t really turned a corner. I hope we can finally do what’s needed to be done for years now and actually build a team rather than just have a few good individuals.

Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, United they're all a shambles. Leicester were humiliated and they deserved to be, they're workmanlike at best. Now is the time to strike. A decent manager will galvanize a club and seize the initiative. Opportunities like this only come around in a blue moon.

I don't expect us to be finishing in a Europe place, but it wouldn't surprise me if Ancelotti was licking his lips about taking on Lampard, Arteta et al. And I will laugh at the Merson's, the Lawrensons and the feckin Charlie Nichols, those shysters don't know their arse from their elbow.

Why did Ancelotti go to Everton? I'll tell you why you media whore, ingrates, he wants a fat wallet and he's managing Everton Football Club. That's a no-brainer.

I feel this comment has a tinge of bitterness in it, Leicester are playing good stuff with some good players, no need to hate them just because our own house isn't in order.

Most of the OP apart from the overrated Shankly bits

He was absolutely a lunatic. But he turned those feckers into what they are today. There's lessons to be learned. Their board sat back and let him do his thing. Until he started thinking he was bigger than the club. I'm not advocating that. What I am advocating is, let a football man conduct his business.

Enjoy the club and it's prawn sandwiches. Leave the football, to men who know what they are doing. That's why we have turned the corner. There is no-one at this club who can hold a candle to Ancelotti. Their way has failed, consistently. If anything, it's a surrender and it's been a long time coming.

It feels like we have a manager we can trust whether we win or lose, We're in good hands. Moving Sidibie to RM little things like these are why Ancelotti has won what he has. It's not a major shake up just a small little change and it won us the game against a very resilient Burnley side who are very tough to beat.

70 mins into today's game, I was looking towards the bench. What I saw is Dyche making a flurry of changes. Then it dawned on me, maybe Ancelotti, is waiting for his opposite number to show his hand. I'm not suggesting that's the way it went but we won. For the first time in a long time, I sat there and said to meself, ya know, have faith, this man knows more in his little finger, than you'll learn in a lifetime.

Questioning someone who looks like they have their eyes transfixed by the Goodison headlights, is entirely different than a man who has stared down the most intimidating arenas and won. He played the game like a chess master, waiting to see his opposite move then punishing his opponent. Dyche was schooled today, make no mistake and he won't be the first either.

Kendall was a master when it came to tactical awareness. He received abuse like a dog initially when he first joined and I was one of them. He rubbed the critics noses in the dirt. Shankly coming from Huddersfield had it too. They see things that lesser mortals don't. Sometimes it takes time, there's only so much you can do in two days but to every supporter watching today, we could see the difference. This is a manager who knows what he's doing.

Inevitably we'll see a narrative from the toxic media, "this is Ancelotti's Everton" and they will game him with every top job that comes available. He's "bigger", "wasted", while they conveniently forget, that they basically told him he shouldn't come here in the first place.

If he stays, he could become a legend here, mentioned in the same breath as Catterick and Kendall. And that will be worth more than any millions he has in the bank. After Moshiri's bankrolled nearly half a billion on players, what he has to work with is, de facto poor and a legacy that both Walsh and Brands have to answer for.

Craftsmen don't blame their tools and if anyone can turn this haphazard collection of players to believe in themselves and forge them to their potential, without a doubt in my mind, he's the man to do that. It goes against my grain to see a swallow and call summer but the corner has been turned.

Some great points in this post. Around the 65 minute mark I was getting proper twitchy thinking "make a sub, change it up".

He showed patience with the players, made the right changes in personnel and formation and we got our rewards.

Hard not to hate anyone who doesn't try and is afraid of Liverpool. Gutless and then gutted. Deservedly.
And BTW this applies to recent shameful Everton performances especially at Anfield.

It has been gutless and frankly embarrassing, which has been a yardstick that cursed this club. Can't see Ancelotti going there and being overawed, can you?

We have a chance here and I'm loathe to bring it up but when we finished 4th. Moyes should have been backed. If we he had, we wouldn't be having this issue. The league is in a flux. It's time to impose. It's that time again.

There is weakness. If we can't seize this opportunity and turn the corner with a superb coach, you know what, let's all give up and become Burnley ffs. Yesterdays men, the anti-thesis of football, just to stay in the league for those bumper games against that shower across the park or United.

We can all get on the Ancelotti bandwagon but if he isn't backed, it's going to be a short ride. It's imperative that the board step up and provide this man with the financial backing for our club to compete again.

When I say we've turned the corner, I'm not talking about the man or the supporters backing. I'm talking about whether the board have the gumption to hire a man and back him. We did that before. And won the league at a canter.
