Too many hand-wringing, lily-livered wimps to the west of them. Both in Governments and in the general public. It's preyed upon, while being laughed at by the fanatics. FFS they're even using our own money to fund their heinous acts.

The time for turning the other cheek has passed AFAIC.

I've mentioned (like others on here) I don't believe that we should let this affect our lives and that we should as far as possible go on with our normal life in a stiff upper lip fashion and not let the agenda be set by terrorists or us get drawn into a stupid (and probably unwinnable) war on terrorism.

But that said I hate political correctness and suspect that to pretend there isn't an issue or be blind to the fact or pretend that there may be an issue with some refugees or muslims isn't helpful either.

I kind of agree with you but still think over liberalism here is a problem in not laying down sufficiently the expectations that we have for people coming into the country and that they integrate and that no Sharia law courts are allowed or forcing women to cover their heads rather than leaving it to their choice or have FGM or allowing Saudi sponsored mosques to be built and Saudi trained Imans to spread hate and discourage integration. By us allowing this it only makes more UK citizens go to the far or not so far right. If they integrate and as a country we do not allow the above to happen I for one would welcome muslims (in it's true form Islam is, I believe, a great and historic religion) in this country.

The purpose of terrorism is not the deaths, but the fear - the terror. That's the key differentiation between a politically motivated murder (Jo Cox) and terrorism (eg 9/11, the tube bombings etc). In the former, the chap had a very definite target, in the latter, the terrorist didn't care who was in building or train, it was merely to highlight that you're never safe from harm, they will attack indiscriminately.

However, to answer your question, 'they' are the media. They fan the flames so much. The only way we can make a stand is by not retreating into our shells. The best example recently was the Nice attack, where eyewitnesses said folk were back out on the street the next morning, business as usual.

@JonS 'keeping a stiff upper lip and carrying on' does not mean turning a blind eye and being all liberal about it. The public should carry on regardless; the authorities should come down on the perpetrators with an iron fist.
