Traumatic Films

I never thought Watership Down was very traumatic. However there is a animated movie from an Adams book called the Plague Dogs which is about animal testing which is throughly depressing.

The clown in Poltergeist traumatised my when I saw the movie when I was 7. The end of Old Yeller was pretty traumatic too.

The 1st time I watched The Shining was in my dorm room. Everybody left for Christmas break an I was the only one on the floor. Plus there was 12 inches of snow on the ground to boot.

Devastated every time at end when he melts - 'Walking in the Air' gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

it's the fields turning to blood and all the rabbits getting crushed to death as they can't escape their warrens that is slightly disturbing. added that there is a very real undertone of death to any character that hardly makes it child viewing.

still we are talking about it so it must have been good~!

I broke down the first time I saw it. The second time I switched off because I was just about to go the same way. I think the song Bright Eyes really adds to the gloominess of the film:

How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Says it all about the end of life, from the exhilarations of being young, strong, optimistic and carefree to, well, being old, weak, depressed and burdened.
