Looks like Sergi is out of the picture then. Who's left ?

I'll be honest I had never heard of him anyway, with 5 days left till our first game I would have liked players already signed so that they can fit in before the first game, let's face it anyone that comes in now is most likely gonna be a 3-4th choice target anyway because the all the others have already been signed up by someone else.

Not necessarily. There may be players waiting on a champions league team coming in for them who will come available. The longer it goes on the bigger the risk of either not getting someone or worse making a panic buy.

What other centre forwards who have scored 18 premier league goals and are at a good age, with there best years ahead of him do you get for 12-15 mill max. Add in the English premium we'll get if we sold him on and Ged he a great buy.

Dann at 6-8 mill would have been a tremendous buy. Tried and tested, premier proven, one of the best defenders in the league last season. I don't want us gambling on an untried foreigner, we need someone to make a difference now.

Rubbish like Heitinga came here with huge reputations and were big names who was a waste of big money.

Dann and Evans both quoted at over £10m when we were linked.

Whilst some of this may be true, did you not always think we had a better chance against United when Evans was playing? I know I did.

He's a good centre half that lived in the shadows of vidic and Ferdinand a touch.

He's another that isn't fashionable but is a decent premier league defender at the right age. A player that has played in a league winning side, Europes best and an international.

If he's available he'd improve us and what we had from last season

A million percent on that last bit. But that's not really hard to do.

I think Evans is a very decent footballer. I think we need to get away from the idea of a new signing being simply a backup to Jagielka and Stones , there will be a rotation during the season which will also involve Browning hopefully.

If we get decent cup runs we will probably play fifty games in a season and many of the players will have internationals to play as well.

The only reservation I have about Evans is his history of getting injured.
