Looking at the list of incomings is like staring at the signings of a mid table club. Wouldn't look out of place at Aston Villa. Very easy to get lost in that layer of mediocrity and the lack of urgency to do otherwise is worrying.

In the long term, the lack of ambition is just going to push our real talent toward the exit. No one can look at that window and believe we are building a squad to challenge for Europe let alone titles. In the short term, it will be poor for morale. There is nothing here to get the home crowd excited or energize the current squad. We can only hope the young striker is some phenom. But I hoped that for Straq and for that young Silva lad and look how that played out. It isn't a disastrous transfer window, but I think it sets us up for a real downer next summer (or maybe even January).

A central creative midfielder was needed, but Deulofeu cushions the blow somewhat. He's capable of breaking down a defense, he just does it from the wing. There were a couple occasions where he single-handedly produced goals by constantly putting pressure on whichever fullback he was up against.
