Why would they loan him out on the last year of his contract?

Get whatever they can for him at the last moment realising that they won't get anything in January? If true, it shows the lad has ambition to play for us. He could easily have stayed put and gone on a free transfer this time next year. I suppose he is effectively on a free transfer now unless there's an agreement otherwise between spurs and everton? But i doubt we would agree to that knowing he is a free agent anyway.
