It needs strengthening as well. A sustained tilt at European football needs us to have a squad that has the quality to pull through when we aren't performing well.

Well we have improved the squad with 2 signings.

For me it needs freshening, rather than improving.

Hypothetically, with no outgoings except McGeady... then d'you reckon we'd be ok with a CB and a playmaker (attacking mid, inverted winger - whatever you want to call it!).

I do think Kev will leave though, and then we'd need a winger to replace him - if not his goals then at least his position in the squad. Probably Lennon.

Every squad in any team in the world could always do with being improved, why would we be any different?

Are squad is not stronger than last year far from it the only real new face is Tom cleverly an he's not excatly star quality, although Geri has came in he was here a year back anyway an with Lennon going back geri's has only really filled his place in.

If we get another CB then we are a good bit stronger. Unfortunately the rest of the league will have made an even bigger jump.

That said we under performed last year.

I think that would be 'ok' but i don't think it'd be apt. We still need more quality players and a little more depth even after a center half, and a playmaker.

We need to start making actual strides into replacing our aging players, who were important to us like pienaar etc.

We need a number ten and we need a CB so we can be flexible I'd say. Maybe another winger too if we get rid of McGeady.

Distin & Alcaraz offered nothing last season, fair point with Lennon, but we have added Gerry and Clev.

If we add a centra back, we are stronger, and that's before we go and get Lennon again.

Its if/when we start selling players late on that is my worry.

I don't think Kev will go and I do think we'll sign Lennon and a decent CB.

I also think we might get a young RB to cover Coleman but it will depend on both availability and price since we aren't desperate as we already have Browning and Hibbert. We might even get Praet "for the future" similar to how Besic was bought and used last year.

That will make us stronger. It will still have been a good window but ultimately a bit disappointing after the brilliant start. No marque play maker which is what we probably needed to get top 4.

However I'm worried about McCarthy.

No Europe, we have less games.

I actually think it was only Alcaraz that was the poor back-up, all the rest are ok.

It was not the back up that let us down last season.
