We had money for Shaqiri, we had money for Yarmelenko. It's a position Bobby seems desperate to fill and the last 3 days of a transfer window are a lot of time to do business in.

what it hasn't been awful? how has it been anything but?

* Strengthened the team : Distin and Alcaraz shipped out; Cleverley, Deulofeu, Henen, Leandro, and hopefully Mori in; probably one more to come. All on permanent contracts so far, and all young players too.
* Garbutt, Miralles and McCarthy signed up to new contracts despite all predictions that they'd leave, despite the fact that Martinez didn't have the carrot of European football to offer them.
* And what this says : that there's a team spirit, that the players believe in Martinez's project
* Kept hold of Stones - despite everything, the money that was offered, the late transfer request. A great show of unity and resolve by Martinez and the Board.

If you think this is awful just you wait till we really do have a bad window, I've seen a few of those.

There was days of stuff in his thread mate. Not going regurgitate it. But Everton/Yarmolenko was not a last minute conversation with Kiev.

And is not yet dead. Just unlikely now.

I'm not suggesting it is last minute, but we certainly seem to have left the brunt of negotiations until the back end of the window, which doesn't suggest he was our main target.
