Where would he fit in? We have Macca, Barry, Besić, Cleverley, Gibson and possibly Barkley to play in a CM. Buying "best" options without any concept is never a good way to build a football club.

Cabaye is twice the player cleverlley is! yeah we gotta give the lad a chance and we have got a fair few midfielders but cabaye is class and for sale

I'm with @Mikey_Fitzgerald in a van Dijk's team. Think this lad has a decent future ahead of him and can learn a lot from Jagielka. He's a bit of gamble and he's unproven, but we need to take a risk sometimes. Vidic and Ivanovic played in a russian league in a similar age which besides some top teams like CSKA and Zenit is not that good either.

If we could use McGeady as a part of the deal and take him for something like 5M that would be a good piece of business. I can't see many other options than him to be fair.
