* We have strengthened every area of our squad

* We have reduced our wage bill (Neville £50k, Fellaini £70k, Moyes £60k)

* We have reduced the age of the squad

* We have reduced the Club debt

* We still have money left over

Are we in a better position now then we were before the transfer window? YES.

We finish above any of those teams we've had an excellent season. We finish above three of those teams then it's an absolute miracle and Martinez is a genius.

We've been nearly men for a long time. Hopefully we've got ourselves a proper goal-scoring centre forward to turn draws into wins. Most other sides are in a state of flux and we're relatively stable. It wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility.

Because I know you love it so much and because it might well be my very last chance:

Barry will **** all over Fellaini DM. He is a proper DM who will track runners and be positionally reliable.

If he's anything like his Villa heyday hell be an enormous asset, decent character to have about the place as well.

Mate he won't be. He's 32. He'll come in and calm things down with his experience but don't expect too much.

I would of said the same thing.

I'm just hoping now that the money left over could be used in January.

But for now I'm very happy especially with the front line.

Would of liked to have kept Anichebe, but £6m is very good business.

Is the CL feasible?

*United could be in for a very rough season. If Van Persie continues to misfire where will the goals come from?
*City should be in the shake up but they look uncharacteristically weak at the back.
*Chelsea might have shot themselves in the foot by deciding that Mata is surplus to requirements.
*Arsenal only have one striker and still haven't addressed their defensive frailties.
*Spurs are reliant on Soldado to replace Bale's goals.
*What effect will Suarez's return have on Liverpool? They still look short of goals.

If Lukaku is the piece on the jigsaw that we've been missing I don't see why we can't mount a serious challenge.

Despite all of the points you make, all 6 times are still in better positions than us.

So no mate. 6th to 10th for us.

Agreed; VERY important that we continue to invest in January.

Also, I initially thought that about Vic. However, what's the most he'll ever be worth do you think? I can't see him ever being more than a £5m player. We've done well there.

We still lack a real world class footballer which all those teams have at least one of. (Exception being Spurs but I still think their squad is a lot stronger than ours).

So now loan players are free and don't cost wages ?

Bigger picture people?

We didn't shift Heitinga;
We didn't shift Gueye;
We didn't bring in a right-sided midfielder;
We have lost a physical presence in midfield;
We didn't improve the creativity in central midfield;
We didn't actually increase the size of the permanent squad - three of our recent signings are loans who will be gone by the end of May 2014.
We overpaid for McCarthy IMHO
We did not squeeze United hard enough for Felli IMHO

We DID sell Anichebe for a decent price IMHO;
We DID bring in CM cover (one more in than went out)
We DID massively upgrade our front line IMHO (admittedly only on loan)
We do have a chunk of change left over.

Hard to be happy about anything other than the Lukaku and Anichebe deals if I'm honest.

Heitinga - Who's gonna take him and at what price. No one came in for him either.
Gueye - No one's gonna take him. Just release him and eat it.
Right Sided Midfielder - You've got Mirallas (not his best position), Deulofeu, & Coleman if need be. Don't really need one.
Physical presence? I'll give you that but Barry's no pushover either.
Creativity - No argument here although I'll wait to see what McCarthy does.

Anichebe's not as bad as we've all made out at times but if you're aspiring to bigger and better things then he needed to be left behind.

I love posters like you that really don't have a grasp on the economic realities of the transfer market where EVERTON are concerned.

How long you been following the club mate because it's been like this since I've been supporting the Blues. What I mean by "like this" is that we do what we can to field a competitive team within the CONSTRAINTS of our budget. That means we do loan deals where we can and permanent ones when we can if it makes sense.

I've got no problem with bringing players like Deulofeu, Lukaku, & Barry in on loan to our club.

We could do a whole lot worse.

Analyse that Carragher.

Brilliant.

Obviously not. I'm not sure on the point you're trying to make though? We've still made money this window unless the loan fees came to £10m+ (I very much doubt that) and the wages will have now balanced in our favour following the departure of our highest earners.

It's quite annoying that you only picked up on that point from my post. i.e. the only point that could potentially be argued as a negative, rather than look at all the other positive points I made. Lighten up?

So we have a record TV deal and we still sell more than we bring in. Be honest: you are not expecting to see it in January are you?

Why do we let them get away with it?
