Still got £20m to spend in January as well. Just trying to decide whether to stay up another hour to see if we've got ferando!

spend it on signing a lukaku who falls in love with everton.
then in the summer resign deulofeo on loan for another season
sell hibbert osman gueye naismith kone jelavic heitinga to raise money for new signings :)

You are still in the "find fault" mode. Try to find time to enjoy the team you support.

I disagree mate. I'm just providing my own assessment of the entire transfer window. It didn't all take place tonight, and we are relying heavily on loan deals. The concern that we won't see much of the Fellaini money is a valid one.

Analyse that Carragher.

Fellaini deal is the best solution for everybody.

Good Loan move on Lukaku and surprised that Chelsea let him leave.

Probably right on Barry, he will give us some bite, but sadly not class which we sorely miss.

Not so sure on McCarthy and sounds like we overpaid a bit for him. Could be very good for the development of Barkley though.

*we could have, instead, brought Kranjcar back to England and see if it works for half a season. Poor lad got snapped up by QPR...

How's that enjoyment thing working out for you mate?

Is the CL feasible?

*United could be in for a very rough season. If Van Persie continues to misfire where will the goals come from?
*City should be in the shake up but they look uncharacteristically weak at the back.
*Chelsea might have shot themselves in the foot by deciding that Mata is surplus to requirements.
*Arsenal only have one striker and still haven't addressed their defensive frailties.
*Spurs are reliant on Soldado to replace Bale's goals.
*What effect will Suarez's return have on Liverpool? They still look short of goals.

If Lukaku is the piece on the jigsaw that we've been missing I don't see why we can't mount a serious challenge.

If you have 22 year old McCarthy and 19 year old Barkley in midfield for the next 5 years then thats a good sign, the money was paid for McCarthy for a reason, he his the opposite to Barkley, and they will compliment each other in years to come

It bodes well. Hopefully the 'kids' in the side Oviedo (23), Deulofeu (19), Barkley (19), Stones (19), Lukaku (20) and McCarthy (22) will help the reinvigorate the senior pros around them.

We finish above any of those teams we've had an excellent season. We finish above three of those teams then it's an absolute miracle and Martinez is a genius.

Very valid point. These two could become our midfield pairing for the best part of a decade; and like you say, their attributes compliment each other with one more attack minded, one more defensive minded. I'm quite excited by the prospect of this.

BBC says

It's worth remembering that two weeks ago Manchester United had a 'derisory' bid of £28m rejected from Everton for both Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. That bid was £28m - today they've paid £27.5m just for Fellaini - 1-0 to Everton...

Most astute signing of the window is Gareth Barry IMO

Because I know you love it so much and because it might well be my very last chance:

Barry will **** all over Fellaini DM. He is a proper DM who will track runners and be positionally reliable.

If he's anything like his Villa heyday hell be an enormous asset, decent character to have about the place as well.
